There’s not always enough time in the day to skim a lengthy, re-worded press release that’s been stamped with “breaking” or “exclusive.” And some stories don’t warrant an entire page of prose. Each week we’ll gather the most important tidbits of Dallas food news and post them here, on SideDish. Because sometimes all you need is the scoop.

Commissary offers weekend brunch: The downtown café, bakery, butcher shop, market, basically all-in-one go-to for delicious things, is now offering brunch. The menu includes breakfast and lunch staples, as well as new cocktails. A few items: croque madame, coconut oatmeal, smoked fish salad, egg sandwich, and a cheeseburger. Brunch is offered all day Saturday and Sunday.

Lupe Tortilla to open first Dallas location: This Tex-Mex restaurant, which originated in Addicks, Texas in 1983, is opening a location in Addison.

“Expanding to the Dallas area is something we’ve been really excited about for a while,” says Peter Holt, co-owner of Lupe Tortilla. “We worked to make sure the timing and location were just right. Our team has taken the time to develop systems and procedures for our amazing staff to replicate our hand-crafted dishes in each restaurant to the same standards we started with in 1983.”

The restaurant currently boasts more than 20 locations, and the 8,000-square-foot Addison outpost is the first in the Dallas area. The menu offers fajitas, chipotle-smoked ribs, loaded nachos, tacos, and more.

The restaurant will be located at 4535 Belt Line Rd. and should open in early 2019.

Shell Shack Uptown relocates to Henderson Ave.: Shell Shack, which opened its Uptown location in 2013, is relocating to Henderson Ave. this spring. Shell Shack founder Dallas Hale is opening a new poké concept called Poke Go Go in the space at 2916 McKinney Ave.

“We’re excited to move Shell Shack into its new home,” says Hale. “And are confident that our patrons will enjoy the larger space and comfortable patio.”

Shell Shack will be located at 2326 Henderson Ave.
