6 Outrageous Dallas Waffles to Try Now

These aren't your momma's waffles.

While the original waffle is sure to please, we thought it’d be fun to spice things up a bit, and so we compiled a list of some of the most outrageous waffles in town. Dig in.

Smoke
The fried chicken and coconut waffles at this Oak Cliff restaurant take the cake. Three perfectly fried chicken strips sit atop a waffle coated in toasted coconut shavings, whipped butter, and a unique maple and chile syrup.

Original Market Diner
If you’d prefer to go a simpler route, Original Market Diner is your place. Here, you can order anything from a classic waffle, to a chicken and waffle sandwich, to strawberry waffles. Your best bet, however, is the pecan waffle with pecan pieces mixed into the batter. Smother that baby in syrup and call it a day.

Henry’s Majestic
“Good food. Strong Drink” is Henry’s Majestic’s mantra, and they stay true to it. With a weekend mimosa bar and a self-proclaimed “elevated American menu,” guests can enjoy dishes from a Texas pho bowl to our personal favorite: the Sopapilla waffle. These are baked in a waffle iron, then fried and tossed in a cinnamon sugar blend, the waffle is topped with a drizzle of honey and a mezcal crème anglaise, and sprinkled with toasted almonds. This dish is just as aesthetically pleasing as it is delicious.

Bread Winners Café & Bakery
Bread Winners’ brunch never ceases to amaze Dallasites and visitors alike. Offering an array of fresh baked goods in multiple locations, the quintessential Dallas staple also serves up exceptional scrambles and breakfast tacos on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Their waffles, however, steal the show. Mixing bacon, house spices, and cheddar cheese into their go-to waffle batter, the jalapeño cheddar waffle creates the perfect dichotomy of sweet and spicy. Try it alone, or as the base of their popular chicken and waffles.

Lucky’s Café
Whether you want a waffle at 9 a.m. or 9 p.m., Lucky’s is your spot. Offering a fresh take on diner food in Oak Lawn, Lucky’s serves breakfast all day. The chicken and waffles is simple but perfect. Using fresh Windy Meadows bone-in chicken breast and thigh pieces, the dish is cooked to order and served with Coombs maple syrup and Lucky’s red eye cream Gravy.

Jonathon’s Oak Cliff
Jonathon’s is a neighborhood favorite serving hearty breakfast all day, every day. Set in a quaint, unassuming spot in Oak Cliff, Jonathon’s does not accept parties of more than five at their original location, keeping the space intimate and homey. Despite the award winning chicken and waffles, we’re all about the all-in-one waffles. With bacon mixed into the batter, this outrageous dish is topped with caramelized onions, scrambled eggs, green chiles, pork sausage, cheddar, hot sauce, and savory peppered gravy.
