Cakettes TX, located downtown across from the post office in the old Serj space, is now open. The new cake ball shop and café, which had a launch party this past Saturday, is serving lunch items (such as chicken apple salad and homemade soup), coffee, and cake balls.
The pastries are a pleasant cross between a cupcake and a truffle and flavors include chocolate peanut butter, red velvet, mocha, and a slightly savory maple bacon. The outer fondant shells of the treats are decorated with colorful flowers, and, in the case of the maple bacon, a little pink pig.
Owner Tessa Dagger fell in love with these treats when she baked her first batch back in 2008. She originally opened Cakettes in 2009 in western Massachusetts at the urging of her husband. When her husband’s promotion brought the couple to Dallas in 2015, Tessa soon found herself wanting to bring Cakettes back to life.
Regular store hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
