There is still time to enter the chili competition.

The Dallas chapter of the Texas Chef Association is hosting their annual chili and craft beer festival this weekend. It sounds like a hoot and if I had the time to make 30 gallons of my famous (in my family) Mouth of Hell chili, I would be there on Saturday. If you fancy yourself a chili champion, this is a great time to pair your chili with one of the many craft beers that will be available. There will also be live music and a live Mystery Basket Cooking Showdown between Beat Bobby Flay contestant Jennifer Bajsel and Tara O’Donnell, winner of Chopped Junior.

This is a good opportunity to familiarize yourself with the Texas Chef Association, a chapter of the American Culinary Federation. The TCA is comprised of 12 chapters in Texas. The association provides members with seminars, networking tools, and professional advancement opportunities to help them further their goals within the food service industry.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $30 for VIP, which includes access to the VIP section where event-goers can taste up to six beers brewed locally by Alumni of The University of Texas at Dallas. VIP will also receive a commemorative tasting glass and raffle entry to win a prize. Tickets are available on Eventbrite (see link below) and at the door. Hosted by UT Dallas Events & Festivals at Northside, Comet Fest will be held at Northside at UT Dallas, a mixed used development space, affectionately known as “Comet Town” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Richardson. Contact [email protected] if you want to get in the game!
