ZaLat Has a Pho Pizza

And you should eat it.

They say you learn something new every day. Today, I learned that pho pizza is a thing, and you can find it at ZaLat.

The D Magazine web team ordered a handful of pies for lunch, one of which was the “Pho Shizzle.” The pizza is topped with diced chicken, red bell peppers, fresh cilantro, basil, caramelized onions, and is drizzled with a swirl of hoisin sauce and Sriracha. Mind. Blown.

A handful of us bounced pho puns back and forth as we excitedly waited for our meal to arrive. (Web Editor, Matt Goodman, was not as tickled by the prospect of a pho pizza because he’d already had it before, and said it’s old news. But that also, “old news is delicious.” He’s a sauce-covered-dough pioneer.)

The pho pizza, which pays tribute to ZaLat’s Vietnamese sister restaurant, DaLat, is a popular seller according to Greyson Lane, general manager of the Fitzhugh Avenue location. The pie was initially a secret menu item, but soon became a restaurant staple.

It’s pho-king great. You should try it.
