The Scoop: Pie Five Opens, Sixty Vines Offers Wine Club, and More

There’s not always enough time in the day to skim a lengthy, re-worded press release that’s been stamped with “breaking” or “exclusive.” And some stories don’t warrant an entire page of prose. Pie Tap turns one: The original Pie Tap location in Dallas’ Design District is turning one and celebrating tonight, August 1, with $10 pies and $1 Frozen Ripsaws. Go party.

Fort Worth-based Alchemy Pops to open storefront: According to the release:

Alchemy Pops, a Fort Worth-based, woman-owned frozen pop company, will soon call 411 South Main home, as the mobile catering company prepares to open its first brick-and-mortar location this fall. Alchemy Pops is planting its roots in a new retail and restaurant development called The 4 Eleven. Developed by real estate company 6th Ave Homes, The 4 Eleven is located in a historic building at South Main and West Broadway. Alchemy Pops is one of the first businesses to partner with this new expansion in the Near Southside.

Pie Five to open in Plano: The pizza restaurant will open its Plano outpost on Wednesday, August 2. According to the release:

Pie Five fans who step into the company’s newest location at 8315 Preston Rd. in Plano on Wednesday, Aug. 2, will notice the difference immediately, starting with its updated, contemporary logo and new restaurant design.

“After doing a significant amount of research, we recognized a shift in consumer behavior that provided an opportunity to make some exciting enhancements to our brand,” says Scott Crane, CEO of Pie Five parent company Rave Restaurant Group, Inc. “We approached the process of concept refinement, as well as our new test prototype design, in keeping with our passion for elevating the guest experience. Our team is excited to share this next-generation Pie Five with our guests.”

Pie Five is also rolling out a new 14″ pizza…wine by the bottle and glass and craft beer on tap, along with 32 oz. and 64 oz. beer growlers. Happy hours: featuring $1 off draft beer and wine along with breadsticks and wings, will be offered Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m.to 6 p.m.

Sixty Vines invites wine enthusiasts to join the Vine Hugger Club: The popular Plano restaurant and wine bar is now offering a premium wine club. According to the release:

The perks begin immediately upon registration for the monthly membership. Members receive a welcome gift of one free 1-liter bottle of wine upon joining and can download the Vine Hugger mobile app right away to take advantage of all the benefits. Using the app, Vine Huggers can easily pay by phone, make reservations and earn rewards. Points, redeemable for food and wine purchases, accumulate for every $1 spent on Sixty Vines’ wines on tap. Members are also alerted first about exclusive wine and beer-tapping events, winemaker dinners and other special events.

In addition, Sixty Vines has monthly wine-pairing dinners that are definitely the highlight of the culinary calendar in Plano. In August, the restaurant will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a champagne-pairing dinner. Vine Hugger members will not only be the first in the know; they’ll also receive an exclusive discount for the events.
