The Best Pools to Drink at in Dallas

The dog days of summer have arrived. Instead of seeking refuge in the air conditioning, embrace the heat poolside with a refreshing drink in hand.

The scene: The family-friendly pool has something for folks of all ages. Let your kids splash in the kiddie pool or romp around on the playground while you play volleyball on the court, hang by the pool, grab a snack at the outdoor restaurant or weekend concessions stand, and sip on an adult beverage from one of the four bars.

How to get in: FOE is open to the public for an admission fee during their official swim season, which ends September 10. Tuesday to Thursday: adults are $7. Friday to Monday: adults are $9. Kids 12 and under, first responders, and military: $5 seven days a week. Get in for free during the offseason.

Special events: Keep an eye out for cook-offs and the Polar Bear Swim throughout the year.

What to drink: You can’t go wrong at any of the four bars, but try the Tito’s water with fruit for $3.75.

Hours: Open noon to midnight seven days a week.

 

The W’s WET Deck

The scene: Tower over Dallas at the WET Deck on the W Dallas Victory’s sixteenth floor. Get your “fancy” on lounging by the infinity pool and sipping cocktails from the full-service bar.

How to get in: Be a guest of the hotel or buy a ticket for their Summer Sundaze series.

Special events: Revel at Summer Sundaze, the WET Deck’s Sunday pool party series from noon to 6 p.m. General admission is $20, but for $250, get a bottle of liquor, reserve a table and get five tickets to the event. Buy your tickets here.

What to drink: Taste the Texas Heat made with Deep Eddy grapefruit vodka, Campari, and grapefruit bitters ($14).

Hours: Open seven days a week from dawn to dusk. Bar hours: Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday to Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

 

SISU Uptown Resort

The scene: Dance your days and nights away at this daytime/nighttime club and lounge. Check out the pool, dance floor, indoor bar and two outdoor bars, or rent out the upstairs green room with a private bar for a night you won’t forget.

How to get in: There isn’t any cover charge on Thursday nights, but you’ll have to pay to get in on Friday and Saturday. Typically women don’t have to pay cover as long as they R.S.V.P. on the club’s Facebook page. You must buy a ticket to get in during the Sunday AQUA series.

Special events: Sisu hosts once-a-month salsa bachata dance competitions and salsa lessons most Thursday nights. Sundays from Cinco da Mayo weekend to Labor Day are dedicated to their AQUA series. Purchase a ticket to enjoy DJs from all over the world in a concert-like atmosphere with bottle service.

What to drink: Share a fishbowl filled with your choice of liquor with your friends for $50 to $60, depending on what you order.

Hours: Sisu is open Thursday to Saturday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. During the day, they’re open Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

 

The Fairmont

The scene: Bask in the sun on the terrace by the Junior Olympic-sized pool. As you wander through the terrace, admire the fresh herbs growing and find them later in your meal or drink.

How to get in: Be a guest of the hotel or buy a day pass for $30, which includes access to the pool, fitness center, poolside food and drink service, outdoor Dive-In Movies, and Wi-Fi. Buy your pass here.

Special events: Jam out to the DJ on the terrace Saturdays between 1 and 6 p.m. or relax by the pool during their Dive-In movie series every other Saturday evening.

What to drink: Order the watermelon margarita for $12 or the kiwi blueberry mojito for $13.

Hours: The pool is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. There are servers during the week, and the bar is open on the weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

 

Hotel ZaZa

The scene: Enjoy the exclusive pool and bar with views of the Uptown skyline.

How to get in: You have to be a hotel guest for pool access, so pamper yourself for a night or two.

Special events: Hotel ZaZa hosts plenty of private events throughout the year. Just call to ask about them.

What to drink: Get the Za Lemonade for $12.

Hours: The pool opens at 9:30 a.m., but swimming is not allowed after dark. The poolside bar opens during the day at 10 a.m. Wednesday to Sunday. The nighttime bar hours are 4 p.m. to midnight Tuesday to Wednesday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, and 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday to Saturday.

 

NYLO Dallas

The scene: Dive into the heated infinity pool on the roof with Instagram-worthy views of the city.

How to get in: You must be a guest of the hotel to swim, but anyone can drink at the bar.

Special events: Drink in style while a DJ plays at the SODA bar on Friday and Saturday nights.

What to drink: Sip on the NYLO-rita for $12 or enjoy a popsicle champ for $10.

Hours: The pool is open from 9 a.m. to sundown. There are servers throughout the pool and the nearby SODA bar. The bar is open Monday to Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday from noon to 2 a.m., Friday to Saturday from noon to 2 a.m., and Sunday from noon to 11 p.m.

 

Joule Hotel

The scene: Feel like you’re swimming off the edge of the world in the Joule’s 10th floor, glass-fronted pool or chill on the neighboring patio.

How to get in: Have a stay-cation as a guest of the hotel.

Special events: The space is open to private events year-round.

What to drink: Try the Cure with vodka, lemon, activated charcoal,  and sparking mineral water, or the Painkiller with navy rum, cream of coconut, orange, pineapple, each for $14. Order your cocktail in a pineapple for an extra $9.

Hours: The pool is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seasonally from March to October. The bar is open Monday to Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. and Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

 

Le Meridien Stoneleigh

The scene: Cool off from the Texas heat in the pool or stretch and relax at the free Friday night yoga class.

How to get in: Typically, you must be a guest of the hotel, but anyone can come Fridays from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.

Special events: Check out the Stoneleigh’s Facebook page to find out about what parties, events, and DJs are on the schedule each week.

What to drink: Kick back with a Piña Colada or Strawberry Colada for $10.

Hours: The pool is open daily from dawn until dusk for guests of the hotel, with poolside service from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Saturday during the summer season.
