Wake up, Dallas. The tiny ‘burb of Celina is growing up fast. The folks there will soon have The Farm Stand Café & Market to brag about. Noted Dallas farm-to-table chef Graham Dodds is at the helm of this restaurant, and the market is focused on local and organic products. It’s the first restaurant to open in Light Farms, a master-planned community in Celina.

The concept is two in one: it will feature a café and market area filled with “chilled and dry snacks and goods for grab-and-go purchase, organic produce, pastries, school-kid lunch boxes, sandwiches and more.” The menu for the café, open for lunch and dinner is “designed with a responsible mindset to preserve and support the local community while featuring foods prepared with local, farm-fresh ingredients carefully selected to meet the needs of Light Farms, Celina and surrounding areas in North Texas.”

Haven’t heard of Light Farms or pickleball?

Light Farms, is a 1,070-acre master-planned community, located in Celina, TX and in the acclaimed Prosper Independent School District, including onsite school, Light Farms Elementary. The community features world-class amenities such as five resort-style pools, a state-of-the-art fitness center, tennis & pickleball complex, bocce ball, basketball and sand volleyball courts, bike-sharing program, over 150 acres of manicured green space and a central community lawn for frequent events like movie nights and concert series.

For the project, Dodds has been consulting with Republic Property Group, developers of Phillips Creek Ranch, WALSH, and The Villas at Legacy West. He will not be the day-to-day chef.

I’m not PR professional, but the rendering of the restaurant exterior they provided does not scream “Graham Dodds” or “organic.”

Look for an early fall opening.
