It seems like almost every neighborhood has its own farmers market. That’s mighty convenient; however, I can’t help but wonder how the Dallas Farmers Market is surviving the competition.

Now comes word that Good Local Markets is moving in to South Dallas with a new location at Paul Quinn College. The Paul Quinn Market launches May 25 and will be held every Thursday from 3-7 p.m. near the We Over Me Farm (3837 Simpson Stuart Road). Good Local Markets founder Sarah Perry approached Paul Quinn College about a collaboration in line with the mission of the We Over Me Farm, a football field-turned-farm at this South Dallas college. Located in a federally recognized food desert, this market aims to make a difference by increasing food access in the neighborhood as well as creating a fun and safe community event by the farm.

You can also find Good Local Market at White Rock (9150 Garland Road) and Tyler Street (922 West 9th Street) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday.
