The first time I had the deviled eggs at Zephyr Bakery Café was in early February. I met a friend for brunch at the Cedar Springs restaurant, and he was already seated on the patio with a half-eaten plate of eggs in front of him when I arrived. “You have to try these,” he insisted.
They were beautiful. Whipped yolk and pimento cheese topped with pickled okra, crispy ham, spicy pecans, and a dusting of paprika.
I picked up one and popped it in my mouth. It was good. So good, in fact, that I nearly ordered a second serving once the glass plate in front of me was empty. But I stopped myself to save room for crab cake Benedict.
Since then, I’ve been back for the dish three times. And it’s been consistently enjoyable. I have to say, these are some of my favorite deviled eggs in Dallas at the moment. And you should eat them.
