La Casita is a family-owned business out of Royse City, Texas, about 30 minutes east of Dallas. The company originated with salsa, a family recipe passed down by owner Veronica Westlake’s grandmother and mother. All three flavors of La Casita’s salsas are made from fresh produce, making them all-natural, gluten-free, and lower in sodium than other jarred salsas on the market. Options include Abuela’s Mild, Medium Original, and their award-winning, Caliente! Extra Hot. The have been winning awards with their products since 2014 with the most recent being the “Zest Fest Fiery Food Winner” and “World Hot Sauce Salsa Winner.”
Bonus: La Casita recently began producing tortilla chips. Their mission is the same for the chips: to produce all-natural stone ground tortilla chips with no preservatives, trans fat or hydrogenated oils that are gluten-free and cholesterol-free. I’m sort of a wimp when it comes to spicy food so the Caliente! is a little out of my league, but the Medium Original and Abuela’s Mild are definitely for me.
I go for salsas with less heat and more flavor, Abuela’s Mild is exactly that. The combination of the salsa and chips is amazing. Both are fresh and full of flavor. The chips are light and crispy with a hint of salt.
