The Scoop: Mudhen Meat and Greens Offers Brunch, Dugg Burger Opens Second Location and More

There’s not always enough time in the day to skim a lengthy, re-worded press release that’s been stamped with “breaking” or “exclusive.” And some stories don’t warrant an entire page of prose. Each week we’ll gather the most important tidbits of Dallas food news and post them here, on SideDish. Because sometimes all you need is the scoop.

Mudhen Meat and Greens is now open for weekend brunch: The restaurant at the Dallas Farmers Market is now offering brunch. According to the release:

“Executive Chef Suki Otsuki’s brunch fare features clean and healthy produce, grains and proteins to satisfy mid-morning appetites. Mudhen Migas, prepared with Vital Farms Eggs, raja, organic corn tortillas baked and topped with avocado-tomatillo salsa and green chili pork is a crowd pleaser along with the James Bond Breakfast, two eggs scrambled (not stirred), applewood bacon, toasted whole wheat toast and black coffee, Green Eggs and Ham Benedict, Whole Wheat Pancakes and a selection of Scrambles. A curated selection of craft beers, wines available by the glass or bottle and hand-crafted, late-morning libations accompany fresh pressed juices, smoothies, aguas frescas, Crack coffee and a custom blend Kombucha on the menu.”

Brunch is available Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Dugg Burger to open Plano location: The burger restaurant will open its second location on Tuesday, May 10. “We know the Plano community enjoys dining out and is proud of its restaurants. We couldn’t be more excited about joining this great community and introducing them to the way we do burgers,” says Jeff Braunstein, the restaurant’s managing partner in a statement. Digg Burger Plano is located at 4701 West Park Blvd., Ste. 110.

Taverna Rossa Craft Pizza and Beer to open new location: According to the release:

“Taverna Rossa Craft Pizza and Beer celebrates the new locale with a grand opening celebration on Thursday, May 19. Festivities begin at 11:30am with the official ribbon cutting with the Southlake Chamber of Commerce.Guests are invited to join Taverna Rossa on their lunch break and sample artisan thin-crust pizzas fresh from the oven 11:30am-12:30pm or sit down and take advantage of the new Taverna Rossa lunch special which includes a personal sized pizza and choice of side salad ($9.99). At 3 p.m., Taverna Rossa kicks off Happy Hour with The Ticket 96.7FM Sports Talk Radio’s Hardline and Guys Night Out broadcasting live until 8pm. Happy Hour drink specials include $2 off select drafts, $4 wells, $5 house wine and $8 signature cocktails including the Rossa Mule, Rossarita and the Award Winning Bloody Mary. After 7pm, enjoy TX Thursday’s with $2 off Texas-made brands including liquors and select drafts. The first 50 guests to arrive at 3pm will receive free Taverna Rossa t-shirts and free pizza (redeemable on next visit).”

Taverna Rossa is located at 1151 E. Southlake Blvd., Ste. 300 at Park Village Center.

Sea Breeze Fish Market & Grill to offer brunch: The popular Plano seafood restaurant will start offering brunch this weekend. Menu highlights include a smoked salmon frittata with dill crème fraîche; blackened redfish with homemade biscuits and creamy redeye gravy; scallop eggs Benedict with pancetta and chive hollandaise; shrimp and grits; and smoked salmon hash with two eggs.
