Tucked quietly in a plaza off of Mockingbird and Abrams just two doors down from Taco Joint, the new location of the Bodega Wine Bar may be easy to miss. That’s okay. Once you get inside, you are immediately transported to a romantic, stone-walled den where all of your wine-loving desires come to life. This introduction may seem a little late, as Bodega officially opened a year ago, but like we said, it’s easy to miss.
The original Bodega Wine Bar occupied a larger space near Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs that closed in 2012. However, wine does not give up so easily, and neither does the owner and operator, Amier Taherzadeh.
After some back and forth finding a proper location, Amier settled on this space in Lakewood and things have come along well. He built out much of the interior himself and hoped to create a living-room-meets-wine-cellar space. He’s done just that. Flights are served in style according to the degree of body in the wine.
One of the wonderful charms of this new smaller space is that you’re almost guaranteed to get several minutes of Amier’s time while he enchants you with knowledge and discussion about the libations filling glasses poured right in front of you. His passion is hard to miss and he will always defer to customer tastes without pretension. Regions are celebrated, deals are available, and the community is a little better off thanks to wine.
