Last month we mentioned that Tre Wilcox is opening Julia Pearl Southern Cuisine in Plano. News comes today that Jermaine Brown has been appointed executive chef of the Southern-inspired concept. According to the release:

Chef Brown got his start at Brennan’s of Houston, where he earned his stripes as the lead line cook and banquet chef. Moving on to Dallas, he continued his development in the kitchen at Abacus, Kent Rathbun’s award-winning restaurant, where he worked his way up from line cook to Executive Sous Chef. Chef Brown has also held Executive Sous Chef positions at fine dining spots including Marquee Grill and Loft 610. With more than 16 years of culinary experience, his rich background and diverse skill set made him the perfect choice for Julia Pearl.

“Julia Pearl Southern Cuisine is an exciting new concept, and I’m looking forward to bringing my passion for Southern food—both modern and traditional—to the kitchen,” says Brown in a statement. “Tre Wilcox has been a mentor of mine, so to be working together once again is a welcome opportunity. I’m going to work hard each night to put out the best food possible for our guests as we introduce ourselves to the community.”

Menu highlights include smoked brisket, roasted redfish, and pomegranate-red pepper glazed pork belly.

Julia Pearl Southern Cuisine is located at 2301 N Central Expressway. The restaurant is slated to open later this month.
