The August 1991 issue of D Magazine covers the best dining bargains in Dallas at the time.

“Pretty, precious, designer food is out,” the author writes. “What’s in is food you can sink your teeth into—at a price you can afford. These days when we dine out, we want a return on our investment. We want more bang for our buck. Wo want value. Turn the page, and that’s just what you’ll find.”

Restaurants mentioned include Ali Baba, The Grape, Kincaid’s, and Aw Shucks. The story makes for a fun read.
