My Five Cents: Pay Attention to Blue Bell Hysteria After Listeria

I don’t know why so many of you are so excited about the return of Blue Bell ice cream. People got sick and died. And now you want to eat it again?

I don’t know why so many of you are so excited about the return of Blue Bell ice cream. I get it’s a much-loved Texas product, but it wasn’t long ago several strains of Listeria monocytogenes were found in at least two manufacturing plants. Lots of people ended up sick and three people died.

If you read the FDA/Center for Disease Control’s report, you, like I,  might think the higher ups at Blue Bell were awfully slow on the recall of the dangerous ice cream. (Good name for a band.)

Maybe because I’ve been spoiled by Dallas’ hand-crafted ice creams or perhaps I look at Blue Bell as a cheating ex-husband trying to get back in the house, either way, I’m over Blue Bell. He can go sling his cookies and cream blandness in somebody else’s freezer. Methinks there is some stinky hidden business behind the insanity of Blue Bell’s return.
