There’s not always enough time in the day to skim a lengthy, re-worded press release that’s been stamped with “breaking” or “exclusive.” And some stories don’t warrant an entire page of prose. Each week we’ll gather the most important tidbits of Dallas food news and post them here, on SideDish. Because sometimes all you need is the scoop.

Madrina offers lunch: The new Oak Lawn restaurant started serving lunch yesterday. Menu staples such as taco de chivo and duck confit enfrijoladas are available during the afternoon, as are new items such as pozole with pork, hominy and guajillo broth, and chicken paillard with adobo spiced chicken, arugula, goat cheese, and herbs. Lunch is available Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

East Hampton Sandwich Co. now open in Turtle Creek Village: Earlier this year we broke the news that the upscale sandwich shop was slated to open in the Turtle Creek Village. Well, that time has come. East Hampton is located at 3888 Oak Lawn Ave., suite 100 and is open daily from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Gus’s Fried Chicken to open in Fort Worth: Gus’s Fried Chicken is slated to open its first Dallas-Fort Worth location at 1067 W. Magnolia Ave. in early 2016. According to the release: “The 3,720 square-foot space will seat about 100 people and feature a casual, family-friendly atmosphere with some recognizable features of the brand, like Gus’s signature yellow and white exterior awnings. This location will be the second in Texas; Gus’s opened in Austin in early 2014.” Expect made-to-order chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, and homemade pies.

Tre Wilcox Cooking Concepts to launch in early 2016: Chef Tre Wilcox is opening an event space in Plano. According to the release: “After a 20-year career as a restaurant chef, private chef and TV personality, Chef Tre is taking everything he’s learned and applying it to a new setting where he can interact with and impact individuals, couples, parties and companies with his brand of fun, educational cooking classes. These include: hands-on cooking classes, couples cooking classes, TRE demonstration classes, corporate team building, corporate parties, and private events.” The space is located at 8200 Preston Road, Suite 135.
