High Real Estates Rents in Dallas Take Another Small Business: Buttons in Addison is Closing

Yet another example of what is going on in the Dallas restaurant business.

buttonsKeith “Buttons” Hicks is closing the Addison location of Buttons, the snazzy restaurant with southern-influenced food and live jazz.  He opened the place five years ago and people flocked there for chicken and waffles and pork chops. The restaurant didn’t close for lack of business, they closed because their lease was over and they “could not find a path forward that was feasible for us to continue.”

Yet another example of what is going on in the Dallas restaurant business. Rents are at an all-time high and, according to the brokers I’ve spoken with, there is no end in sight. Independent owners are going to have a tough time competing with slick, well-funded national chains.

I have no idea who is taking over the space, but I doubt they will have the soul of Button’s. The Fort Worth location is still open.
