The Rise of Small-Batch Distilleries in Dallas and Fort Worth

Move over craft beer, the small-batch booze business is on the rise. Last month I assembled about 36 bottles of locally produced whiskey, vodka, gin, rum, and bourbon and conducted a personal taste test. I couldn’t get behind any of the cinnamon-infused rum and Duckworth Vodka’s blend with Perigord truffles was a bit of a tough swallow, but owner Lee Fuqua says he gave me one of the first experimental bottles to try and he’s still working on it.

I found  many dedicated distilleries and heard of several others in the works. Here are the stories behind them.
