The Localist: Mrs. Burk’s Buns

The gourmet cinnamon rolls can be found at the Dallas Farmers Market.

I couldn’t resist nabbing a sample as I passed by the Mrs. Burk’s Buns kiosk at the Dallas Farmers Market. I popped a sweet morsel of the baker’s “blue raspberry” (blueberry and raspberry) bun in my mouth and continued on my trek. It was good. So good, in fact, that I circled back around for a second helping.

“How do you make these cinnamon rolls?” I asked wide-eyed business owner, LeAnne Burk. “Oh heavens, there’s no telling,” Burk coyly responded. The baker is tight-lipped about the recipe for her family’s triple rise bread.

Burk has been baking since she can remember, and has been selling her gourmet cinnamon rolls at the Dallas Farmers Market since April. She is constantly changing up the flavors, but a few highlights include maple toasted pecan, blue raspberry (blueberry and raspberry), rum raisin, peanut butter, hazelnut chocolate swirl, and of course, old fashioned cinnamon.

You can purchase Mrs. Burk’s Buns at the Dallas Farmers Market or online.
