You can now get sangria-swirl margaritas and nacho plates the size of your head on Lower Greenville.

Yucatan had been quite hush-hush about its open date before a picture showed up on the social media site of diners enjoying chips and burrito bowls on the restaurant’s patio. No PR to fluff it up. No hint of a time frame at the construction site, other than a large “Coming Soon!” sign posted along the sidewalk for months. No response to the email I sent on Tuesday — not kidding — requesting an open date. (Full disclosure: Yucatan was my go-to spot for tacos and margaritas when I attended TCU, so I have been severely anticipating the Dallas opening. Calling its sudden opening a “pleasant surprise” would be an understatement.)

The fast-casual, Latin-fusion restaurant originated in Fort Worth and has a wide-ranging menu, from a yucca fries appetizer served with roasted garlic aioli sauce to grilled Latin sandwiches and tequila lime sorbet. Of course, there are tacos, too, stuffed with purple cabbage, red onion, lettuce, tomato, Chihuahua cheese, queso fresco, that garlic aioli sauce, and your choice of protein: tempura fish, ground sirloin, shredded beef, tequila lime chicken, spicy aged chorizo, or others.

A full bar stocked with dozens of tequila bottles, well and not-so-well-known alike — has both inside and outside counter seating and a list of exotic beverages to choose from. Frozen and rocks margaritas both made the cut, alongside eccentric classic cocktail and margarita variations, like the pineapple-cinnamon or cucumber-lime margarita. The outside patio offers plenty of contemporary, mixed-wood-and-iron tables and benches for lounging, sipping, and testing out the menu.

See for yourself; go get a taco from the newest stand in town, and maybe you’ll have a new go-to spot for tacos and margaritas, too.

Yucatan Taco Stand is located at 2023 Greenville Ave.
