I always crave Tex-Mex during patio season, but because my budget doesn’t always allow for the four margaritas I will most certainly consume alongside my free chips and salsa. That said, I am always looking for salsas that I can buy in the store and enjoy at home, and Happy Tomato Salsa is one of the freshest that I have found.

Happy Tomato is owned by Lauren Keefe, a homeschooling mom of two who lives in Fort Worth. She makes all of her salsas with organic tomatoes as well as natural and local (when in season) ingredients. My favorite of her products is the Very Verde Salsa.

After plugging away at several smaller stores in the Dallas, Denton and Keller area the company was recently picked up by all Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and Houston Central Market locations. You can find Happy Tomato in the refrigerated section of each store (due to the freshness of all the ingredients the salsa needs to be refrigerated at all times). Oh and, all flavors are on sale for a reduced price of $6.49 at Central Market until May 17.

To learn more about Happy Tomato Fresh Salsa visit their website at www.happy-tomato.com You can also watch their Facebook page for information about in-store tastings and other events.
