Jon Hetzel of Madison Partners, the investment company with a big stake in Expo Park real estate, just sent word with the two new concepts moving into the old Meridian Room and Amsterdam Bar spaces. (Amsterdam closed its doors just last week.) Anyway, I live right around the corner, so, color me excited.
Eight Bells is from the folks behind Ten Bells, so if you’re a fan of the Oak Cliff bar’s generally strong pours and way-better-than-average food, you will probably like this spot. Fingers crossed that the mac and cheese survives the jump across the Trinity.
Expo Bar and Grill comes courtesy of the former owners of the Lakewood Theater and Arcade Bar, which is a spot I loved for the Saturday night karaoke AND the never-ending popcorn. Per the press release, “Expo Bar and Grill will include a small menu of well-crafted comfort food and will be designed as a comfortable and approachable neighborhood saloon featuring local craft beers.”
As a bonus for residents, Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters have leased a spot on Exposition Avenue for roasting their coffees, and they plan to sell beans. It’s not a coffee shop. But it’s close.
