Tom Spicer, an agricultural force in this area for over 30 years, lost his funky garden and shop on Fitzhugh last December. He found a home in a space next to Garden Café where he’ll be plowing the field and hosting his informal, yet educational Thursday-night dinners for March.

This morning he sends the dates and menus written in Spice-ish. Dinners are $75pp plus 15% gratuity. 5310 Junius Heights. 214-887-8330. BYOB.

March 5th:
choucroutes, one creole, the other Alsacean w/ sides of various mustards
Quiche Loraine is the veg opt
Plat au fromages (Scardello’s)
Fried okra over salad greens
Peach Melba

March 12th:
Smoked chicken Gumbo and Cajun dumplings,
Crab (Louie, soft shell or cakes)
Akara (gluten free corn bread made from black eyed pea meal not corn)
Spicer salad
Drunken bread pudding

March 19th:
Stuffed Cornish game hens roasted on a bed of leeks
Chicken croquets
Truffled Mac n’ cheese
Roasted rutabagas and green garlic
Dessert by lily

March 26th:
Pescado Vera Cruz con salsa pico a la Fansois (spicy sorrel sauce)
Esquites (cream of roasted corn with herbs and a selection of hot sauces)
Quelites (Mexican wild salads) sapote vinaigrette topped with toasted pumpkin seeds
Flan
