Beer-lovers unite each year during North Texas Beer Week to raise their commemorative glasses in honor of the ever-growing Texas beer culture. It’s a celebration that begins with a number of events, Untapped Festival being the biggest — which look place this past weekend — and continues through Sunday, November 9. There are over 285 froth-filled parties taking place within the next week. So, whether you like your mug filled up with an IPA, porter, stout, or even pumpkin ale, you will find at least one happening to quench your thirst and give proper thanks to the great beers of North Texas. November 3
Tonight Brewery Ommegang brings its national food and beer pairing competition, HopChef, to Dallas at 3015 at Trinity Grove. The event brings together some of Dallas’ top beer-forward chefs to battle it out for the best paired dish alongside one of Ommegang’s ales. The six selected restaurants competing include Meddlesome Moth, Blind Butcher, Common Table, FM Smokehouse, Whiskey Cake, and Libertine. The $60 admission includes samples of each chef’s signature dish and accompanying Ommegang beers, as well as a commemorative Brewery Ommegang glass. The competition for the tittle of HopChef 2014 begins at 6:30 p.m.
November 4
Head to Flying Saucer for a mystery flight of Real Ale Mysterium Verum starting at 8 p.m. Win a chance at over $130 in gift cards along with other prizes if you can correctly guess which beers you’re tossing back. It’s free to play, so there really is no excuse to miss out on this night of games and fun.
The Meddlesome Moth is pairing up with Brooklyn Brewery hosting a beer dinner with James Beard award winner and author Garrett Oliver. Tickets cost $80 and include a seven-beer, six-course meal. The event starts at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling (214) 628-7900.
November 5
Beer and barbecue go hand in hand, so it’s no surprise that Pecan Lodge found its way into our lineup of top events. Four Corners Brewing Co. is joining forces with Pecan Lodge for a dinner of brisket and two off-menu items, smoked pig’s head tacos and venison sausage sliders. Four Corners is serving up three twelve-ounce beer samples to wash down all that ‘cue. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and tickets cost $50. Seating is limited.
Spice things up with a “Thai Me Up” dinner at Malai Kitchen featuring their house-brewed, Asian-style beers inspired by Southeast Asia. Chef Paul Singhapong of CrushCraft Thai is on the kitchen line for this six-course meal. The $60 seat comes with dishes like Vietnamese crepes, grilled quail salad, oxtail soup, and sticky rice crème brulee. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. Call (214) 599-7857 to make a reservation.
November 6
Lower Greenville is hosting a block party, beer-week style. More specifically, a Revolver Brewing block party. The event takes place at Blind Butcher, The Bottle Shop, The Libertine Bar, and The Truck Yard. The party starts at 4 p.m, and guests can partake in giveaways, live music, specialty events at each location with exclusive flavors pulled from the Revolver vaults, and of course plenty of drinking from the full lineup of Revolver brews.
Brew-HaHa Comedy Series makes it way to Rahr Brewing Company for a night of craft beer and comedy. Upon entry, guests receive a mini tour of the brewery, three beers, a Brew-HaHa Comedy Series glass, sticker, and wristband. Tickets are $25 in advance and at the doors, which open 7 p.m. Food trucks will provide plenty of grub for when hunger strikes, and Uber Dallas will make sure you get a safe ride home with the $20 off code “BrewHaHaDal” for new users.
November 7
Privileged beer-lovers have the opportunity to attend this year’s Brewer’s Ball featuring the founders, owners, and brew masters of forty top-breweries across the nation alongside twelve DFW top chefs. Taking place in the Renaissance Dallas Hotel, the exclusive event sold only 500 tickets for the chance to shake hands with popular faces of the craft beer world.
November 8
The unofficial beer of Texas, Lone Star, is hosting a North Texas Beer Week Extravaganza with a sampling of countless breweries across the area. Names like 903 Brewers, Armadillo Ale Works, Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Franconia Brewing, Martin House Brewing Company, and more will debut special releases, limited edition bottles, and giveaways. The best part? It’s completely free.
Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House just gave you the best reason to eat your way through their new menu items with their “End of All Endings” party. Stone Brewing is invading Goodfriend for a barrel-aged event taking place from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m.
It’s Deep Ellum Brewing Company’s third year anniversary and the place is known to throw down when it comes to celebrations. Head to this “all afternoon” event at the brewery and taproom for more tappings, tap takeovers, and food trucks starting at 12 p.m. Live music is a given and birthday cake will probably happen. There better be birthday cake.
