There is a new reason to visit SER Steak + Spirits in the Hilton Anatole Hotel, besides their seasonally influenced dishes created by their charming Chef Anthony Van Camp, enhanced with the incomparable view of the Dallas skyline. Last week they hosted Barbara Messer of Merryvale Winery to help with the launch of their new membership based wine club.  I was able to stop by as their guest and enjoy a quick glass of their refreshing Sauvignon Blanc and stellar Profile while hearing more about what the venue has planned for the wine club members.

The club will offer members unique opportunities to experience special tasting and wine dinner opportunities, that will also include some nice perks afforded by the fact SER is attached to the hotel.  For instance, joining the hotel for a complimentary stay after one of their lavish wine dinners, or treating yourself to a discounted spa day before joining them in the restaurant for happy hour. Additional perks include a free glass of the featured wine of the month, discounts on their monthly wine dinners and tastings, complimentary room upgrades, and more.

Merryvale merlotThe venue has been hosting monthly wine dinners for some time, but the first wine dinner with the newly launched wine club is this Thursday might with Rene Schlatter, President of Merryvale Winery in Napa Valley.  Rene will join SER for a progressive, four course wine dinner featuring their iconic wine, Profile, the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon based, red blend that defines why Napa is the ideal place for growing great Cabernet.  A special bonus for the dinner will also include Van Camp’s Vanilla Creme Brulee paired with Antigua, a Muscat de Frontignan dessert wine from Merryvale created by blending four different vintages of muscat from 1970, 1983, 1992 and 1997.  The fortified wine is aged on average 11 years in both French oak and in tanks, creating a luscious, sweet wine filled with honey, hazelnuts, orange and spice.

Can’t make the dinner this week, November 13 they will host a tequila and wine dinner with Jordan Winery of Sonoma and Casa Dragones Tequila, and December 11 they will host Penfold’s for an incredible dinner that I was promised would include their 100 point Grange. All will lead up to a New Years Eve 5 course dinner celebration.  Details on both the dinner and the wine club are available at 214.761.7498.  Wine club memberships are $250 per person/$400 per couple. The four course wine dinner this week with Merryvale is $149 per person.
