Tipsy Tuesday: Dallas Booze News September 9 – 15

Wine, beer, and bourbon dinners and festivals abound, so make it through the rainy weekend with some boozy events.

For the Beer Lovers:

The Fourth Annual Dallas Observer BrewFest goes down this Saturday at the Dallas Farmers Market presented by Whole Foods Market. The outdoor beer-sampling event and festival will feature craft beers and local food vendors like Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, Full Circle Tavern, Samson’s Gourmet Hot Dogs, Social House. For Wine Lovers:

Tonight, Spoon Bar & Kitchen is mixing things up and stepping outside the books as Chef Tesar and JR host a line of fish courses paired with red wines instead of the traditional white. The five-course meal begins at 6:30 PM with a reception and continues through the night with wines from Oak Cliff Cellar. Get your seat for $100 here.

Don’t let the impending cold front and showers get your summer mood down. Check out Eden Restaurant for a four-course meal paired with four summer wines courtesy of In-Home Wine Tasting 4 You and The Wine Therapist this Thursday. From 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM, Chef Karen Kahn will highlight the notes of each wine selected dishes for $48. Make reservations by calling 972-267-3336.

This Wednesday, Grace in Fort Worth will host “Women and Wine” for “A Day of Rosé.” Sample Langlois-Chateau Brut Rosé, Cuvée Tableau Rose from Tavel, France and McPherson Cellars Rosé from Texas for $10 and paired canapés from Chef Blaine. This will happen anytime between 4 PM and 7 PM.

For Cocktail Lovers:

The Holy Grail Pub will host a five-day celebration September 15 – 19 in honor of Scottish Independence Day on September 18 highlighting Scottish Malt Whisky and traditional Scottish food. Starting with the release of Caol Ila Distiller’s Edition unpeated cask strength from the Isle of Islay, the pub haven will release four limited production whiskeys as well as a special tapping of locally-produced Community Brewing Company’s Glenstemmons Scotch Ale. Three are distiller’s editions, which is a batch made only once a year that has been specially chosen by the distiller to go through a second round of aging in wine casks. Housemade haggis served with blood sausage and mashed potatoes will be available after 5 PM throughout the duration of Scotch Week to pair with the Scotches.

Bird Café will highlight the bourbons of Garrison Brothers Distillery with a four-course meal paired with four bourbons and a bourbon cocktail on Monday, September 15. Call 817-332-2473 to reserve your seat.
