Screen Shot 2014-08-11 at 2.21.01 PMLast week a new Cuban joint dubbed C Señor opened its doors in Oak Cliff, nonprofit Café Momentum revealed a location for a brick-and-mortar home in downtown Dallas, gastropub Public School 214 marked its territory in West Village for their upcoming opening, and Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek got a little casual with a revamp in server uniforms, featuring khakis and button-down shirts.

Here are a few more things you should know about for a little food news update…

Bolsa Mercado came out with a new “Adult” Juice Bar with boozy concoctions like Mr. Pink (rum), McGregor’s (vodka), Frida Kahlo (tequila) and The Politician (gin). Kick it back with one of these glasses and tell yourself it’s healthy because each are full of all-natural, locally-sourced ingredients.

Tonight, August 12, Gemma will showcase a five course dinner from Chef and Owner Stephen Rogers with wines from Fisher Vineyard and guest Cameron Fisher. Dishes will include diver scallops with chanterelle mushroom and sweet corn reduction, maitake mushroom flan, Moroccan spiced lamb chops, Bryan Flannery dry-aged rib eye and Valrhona chocolate cake. Dinner starts at 6:30 and for $125 guests can make a reservation at 214-370-9426.

For National Filet Mignon Day on August 13, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House in Dallas and Fort Worth will pay homage to this flavorful cut of steak by hosting a Prime Pair summer prix-fixe menu. Guests who order the Prime Pair are able to enjoy an 8 oz. filet paired with their choice of crab cake, scallops or shrimp, including a Salad and side for only $49. If you’re not able to make it to a Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House for this succulent holiday, Executive Chef David Holben of Dallas and Executive Chef Anthony Felli of Fort Worth have created their rendition of homemade Filet Mignon.

Austin concept Houndstooth Coffee will overtake the old Pearl Cup location on Henderson on Thursday. Houndstooth third location and first location in Dallas, will offer customers a lineup of beans from TWEED, North Carolina’s Counter Culture Coffee, Supersonic Coffee out of California and a number of others. Hours will run from 6:30 am to 7 pm on weekdays and 7 am to 7 pm on weekends. If you’re rollin’ up on your cruiser bike, feel free to use the walk-up/bike-up window.

Still on a sausage high after the debut of new restaurant concept Scotch & Sausage? Well North Texans have the opportunity to snag tickets for 105.3 The FAN’s Second Annual Summer SausageFest on August 23. From 4-10 pm, spectators can wonder the ground of Main Street Garden in downtown Dallas and chow down on meaty bites of Samson’s Gourmet Hot Dog, Brathaus, Baby Back Shak and Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop.  The event will feature the Miss Sausage pageant and carnival games including sausage races, as well as live entertainment by DJ Melissa Richey, Guns for Roses, and Sam Lao + Rhymin’ & Stealin’. Admission is $15 in advance at sausagefestdfw.com or $20 at the gate. A variety of sausage selections, beverages, and other food options will be available for an additional charge.  Attendees must be at least 21 years of age.

When I think of Elvis Presley, El Ranchito restaurant doesn’t necessarily jump to the front of my mind. Apparently the owners have had a long-standing relationship with The King’s music as this year will mark their 12th annual Elvis contest and shows. Followers of the King enjoyed a show by James Wages August 6 and can see a special show on August 20th by El Ranchito’s very own Juan “Elvizz” Sanchez. Elvis contests will take place August 13 and August 27.  Each night will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the cover is $5.

As for our a little food porn to make your Tuesday more bearable, here’s what Dallas has been up to courtesy of Instagram…

Treat your pup (or grab a friend’s) to the land of Mutts Canine Cantina and you’ll find yourself treating your stomach to some breakfast tacos and Hypnotic Donuts Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8 am to noon.

Become mesmerized by this shot of Uncle Ubers’ SOB (South of the Border) Chicken Sammich with grilled marinated breast, homemade guacamole, grilled onion and jalapeños, chopped romaine, and tomato topped in a melty pepper jack cheese blanket on a toasted baguette. I know you’re drooling right now…
