Tipsy Tuesday: Dallas Booze Events July 29 – Aug 3
Dallas is hosting wine dinners, beer birthdays and drink specials this week.
For the wine lovers:
Raise your glass high as Abacus hosts a four-course Rosé Wine Dinner featuring Todd Ruback of Vineyard Brands this Thursday. Chef Kent Rathbun will cook up dishes like foie gras pastrami, roasted rabbit “porchetta,” and Copper River salmon. From sparkling to still, wines will range from Spain, France and California. The dinner begins at 6:30 PM and runs $120 per person plus tax and gratuity. Make reservations by calling 214-520-0151.
For the beer lovers:
If you’re not part of the hip craft beer in-crowd yet then this event will probably get you your membership card. Rabbit Hole Brewing will present its first 48 growlers ever including four brews on tap at Craft and Growler this Wednesday. You can’t really call yourself a real beer drinker until you have your very own growler to tote around, so get there early to take one home when you buy a 64-ounce fill of the Wonderlust, Mike Modano 561 or Rapture Fusion Brown. The party starts at 7 PM.
It seems Deep Ellum Brewing Company and Katy Trail Ice House are best friends for life, so clearly it’s the only place they’d choose to celebrate the second birthday of its Dallas Blonde. This citrusy, balanced session ale is one of DEBC’s fastest growing brews from their lineup with floral American hops and wheat malts. Starting at 5 PM, expect things like free promotional DEBC gear, birthday cake and commemorative schooner and pint glassware.
For the cocktail lovers:
The folks at Whiskey Cake may know a thing or two about my drink of choice, but they like to dabble in another spirit as well. This Wednesday they will host a Historia de Tequila Dinner featuring five courses paired with differed cocktails. $60 will get you drunken littleneck clams and chimichurri wood-grilled hanger steak in addition to other mouth-watering plates. Get there at 7 PM and call 972-993-2253 to secure a seat.
National Tequila Day may have come and gone, but Texans like to celebrate it like it’s every day. That’s why Chef Julio Peraza and Komali restaurant will welcome Herradura Tequila for a special tasting dinner this Thursday at 5 PM. Experience a quintessential Mexico City five-course meal paired with handcrafted cocktails created by mixologist Leann Berry. Dishes will include watermelon salad, sea bass al pastor, crispy sweetbread and pork belly taco, marinated lamb chop and blue corn profiteroles. The dinner will run for $80 per person and reservations can be made by calling 214-252-0200 or emailing [email protected]
