Wednesday night. Master Sommelier, beer expert, and bicycling champion, Melissa Monosoff, attended a beer dinner at Mot Hai Bai. She files this report.
Wednesday night, the forty women of the Barley’s Angels, an international organization organization focused on advancing the education of female craft beer consumers, filled Mot Hai Ba for a women’s only Belgian beer themed dinner. Tara Dollar the founder of the Dallas chapter along with Chefs Jeana Johnson and Colleen O’hare put together a fantastic Vietnamese menu paired with unique and hard to find Belgian brews. Every course was a new adventure however the group’s resounding favorite was the potent yet highly drinkable Scaldis paired with a pineapple upside-down cake with coconut caramel. I have a feeling this will become a new menu item as guests were placing orders for whole cakes at the end of the night.
The local Barley’s Angels chapter here is growing. “I wanted a place where women could learn, grow and feel comfortable with beer,” Dollar says. Look for other Barley’s Angels events on their Facebook page.
