Dallas/Fort Worth Food News Briefs

The Dallas restaurant scene is booming. Here are some of the happenings taking place as we type.

rahrSlow Food Dallas. Catch Taco Talk with José R. Ralat at Four Corners Brewing Co. on May 8th from 6pm-9pm. José will share the story of the taco, from its humble Mexican beginnings to its place in Dallas food culture today. In addition to José’s presentation, there will be food from Taco Party. Tickets are $15 and on sale now. Tickets include admission to the presentation and two tacos, one al pastor and one fried potato. Beer will be available for sale before, during, and after the presentation. This event has limited availability, so please purchase your ticket in advance at http://tacotalk.eventbrite.com.

Dallas Wine Trail. The last tour including the original four wineries– Calais Winery, FUQUA Winery, Inwood Estates, Times Ten Cellars—will take place Saturday, May 10 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The $49.95 ticket price includes three tastes and food at each stop, a free bottle of wine from one of the wineries, and a 19.5 ounce crystal Dallas Wine Trail wine glass. This will be last call for FUQUA Winery as they are converting to a distillery. Get tickets here.

Table 13. Swanky new Vegas-style restaurant in Addison will open softly this weekend. The official three-day ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ launch party blasts off May 8-10. Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. This Fort Worth brewery has been racking up international awards, including a Bronze Medal in the world’s most prestigious beer competition—the World Beer Cup. They also won five medals at the 5th Annual Denver International Beer Competition. To commemorate their accomplishments, the brewery will host a celebratory tour and tasting on Saturday, May 17 where attendees will receive an exclusive, commemorative pint glass  www.rahrbrewing.com

Rose Tasting. Thursday, May 8th from 5-7pm at Sigel’s-Greenville. You can sample 2013 French Rose’ wines. They will feature a dozen of these dry, crisp summer sippers, including many that never been seen in Texas before. (5757 Greenville Ave).
