For a city starved of good, build-your-own salads, there’s a new option in town. Crisp Salad, a fast-casual restaurant across the street from Greenville’s buzzing Trader Joe’s, opens today at 11 a.m. Customized salads are priced reasonably at $7.35, and you can choose up to eight different ingredients. (This doesn’t include proteins.) With 23 salad dressing options on hand and a smattering of awesome cheese choices (think goat cheese and nice mozzarella)—it’s definitely hard to narrow down your selections when the time comes. That’s why there’s an entire board for signature salads, which can also be made into flatbreads or wraps. At the media tasting yesterday, the Street Taco salad for $8.45 had crunchy bacon bits, tortilla strips, and spicy chicken. It was filling, to say the least. You could split it into two meals easily if you’re not hunger-raging.

And though Crisp’s owner Blaine Duhe is all about spreading good cheer and a healthy lifestyle, it doesn’t sound like he’s above a little cheating. Crisp offers mini-cupcake bites to finish off your meal. (Go with the pumpkin spice.) You can even pair your salad with a nice glass of wine or a cold glass of beer. Right now, you can buy wine by the glass, and he’s working on getting local beers into his establishment. He says he’s excited to be in the neighborhood. But I think we’re more excited that Crisp Salad is here.
