farmersMarket_02_charThe mornings are getting chillier and chillier which means we’ve reached the part in the year when it’s too cold to wear shorts before 12 and too hot to wear pants in the afternoon. Seriously, just make up your mind, weather. Personally, I can’t wait to break out my awesome denim jacket. The markets are all starting to embrace the fall weather as well. Check out all of the autumn produce this weekend.

Coppell Farmers Market:

793 S. Coppell Rd.
Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

This weekend, Coppell has a ton of excellent produce. Let me rattle off a short list: okra, cucumbers, radishes, onions, pecans, yellow squash, zucchini squash, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, bell peppers, jalapenos… I’ll leave you to see the rest for yourself. Pumpkins have also arrived in all shapes and sizes. You can go ahead and place orders for a Thanksgiving turkey with Rehoboth Ranch. New flavors of farmers market fare include quiches by Hiram Farm, Wackym’s cookies, and Good Spice’s pumpkin spice lemonade. Coppell sounds like a treasure trove this weekend, so get your share.

Frisco Farmers Market:

6048 Frisco Square Blvd.
Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

It’s time to stock up on honey for the winter. Mr. Money’s Honey Pot store has bee pollen, honey with honey comb, and honey snack sticks with cinnamon, cherry, and vanilla. New to the market this week is Made with Love by Anty, who creates tasty desserts in pretty jars. This month, all jars will be pink in honor of breast cancer awareness.

White Rock Farmers Market

702 N. Buckner Blvd
Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

This Saturday at White Rock Market (Lakeside Baptist Church location) is an “Everything Market” and a little something called Free Pie Day. Are you kidding me with that name? Who isn’t coming to something that has “free” and “pie” next to each other? Additionally, they will have the following cooking demos scheduled for Saturday.

9:30 a.m. “How to Use Seasonal Squash: featuring produce from Good Earth Organic Farm”

10:00 a.m. “Using & Processing Whole Grains: Pumpkin/Squash Pancakes” with Vickie Smolek of Grapevine Grains and featuring Texas Olive Oil Ranch and Texas Honeybee Guild

11:00 a.m. “How To Make Herb Infused Oils For Cooking  & Skin Care” with Holly Ross of Hollyberry Herb Ranch

Chestnut Square Farmers Market
315 S. Chestnut St.
McKinney, TX 75069

Along with their fall fare, Chestnut Square have acoustic duet the Blackbirds provide entertainment this weekend.

Collin County Farmers Market
3314 Central Expy

Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Coffee del Rey will now be selling their wonderful coffee by the cup to enjoy while you shop. Have it with Collin’s local breakfast from 9-11:30, which returns on Saturday.

Grand Prairie Farmers Market:

 120 W. Main St.
Saturday, 8:00 a.m.  –  1:00 p.m.

The Grand Prairie Farmers Market features fall foods Saturday, Oct. 5, from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. You’ll find squash, zucchini, pumpkins, beans, breads, and salsas.

Grapevine Farmers Market:

325 S. Main Street
Thursday – Saturday,  8:00 am – 4:00 p.m.

Fresh honey crisp apples await you at the Grapevine Farmers Market this weekend. They have a “perfectly sweet” taste and lots of juiciness and snap. It’s a very visceral experience. Come buy up as many of these popular apples as you can carry. I’m not hoping for a long winter, but it never hurts to stock up.
