Reader Reviews: DFW Restaurant Week 2013

DFW-restaurant-weekDid you survive DFW Restaurant Week 2013 weekend? We’d love to read your reports. Tell us the good, bad, and the ugly. We also want pictures of great servers. If you have a wonderful service experience, ask for the servers name and snap a photo and email them to me.

Many restaurants still have dinner reservations and some are doing prix fixe lunch specials. Here’s the list. Go out and support our local restaurants. Your dollars will help the North Texas Food Bank and the Lena Pope Home. Remember to tip your server. We’ll fill cyberspace with food: tweet us (@DSideDish) reviews and we’ll retweet them. It’s too hot to think so LET’S EAT.

    I think it is time for Restaurant week to be re-evaluated. I am a restaurant owner, who received a lot of calls from customers who were happy that we were not participating, and who went ahead and made reservations with us. I have nothing against the great cause but just think that it has had its run.

    We did two RW dinner last night. One that was blah and the other that was horrible. We had not planned to do any RW dinners, but ended up going out socially. One was at a mid level restaurant I was not expecting much out of and they delivered to that standard. The other was at one of Dallas’s high end restaurants and was so underwhelmed we will not attend another RW dinner.

    We did two last week and one more this week. Chamberlain’s Fish – fantastic. Exceeded our expectations. Stacy the valet and Caesar our waiter were outstanding – each course was delish. The dessert was my favorite – Coconut Cream pie! Already emailed Chef Chamberlain and the GM. Hattie’s – WOW totally worth the drive from Plano. Not having had Low-Country food before I wasn’t sure what to expect. I got flavorful dishes that oozed of delishesness. We both tried different things to get the full experience. The special course was a little bite of heaven! Again dessert was my favorite – Plum Strudel with Coconut ice cream. Jeff our waiter was great.

    Two RW dinners on Wed and Thurs, Capital Grille Plano, it was a really great value and great service and French Room, unfortunately not great value or service. We are fans of French Room, and they run a great risk in participating in RW. If a new patron had the same experience we had and it was their first time, they may not return. We probably will for special occasion. We have 2 more RW reservations this week and 2 more next week, so we will have 6 total. More updates.
