Craving a frozen treat but don’t want to drag your crew out to get one? Well friends, you are in luck.  Today only, the folks at Uber are letting users use their smartphones to summon ice cream trucks on demand between 11 AM to 5 PM. For $25 you can order up to five ice creams, including a variety of childhood faves like Choco Tacos and Bomb Pops. The perfect treat for a hot Friday afternoon, yes?

Here’s how it works:

  • Download the Uber app for iPhone or Android
  • Request the “Ice Cream” option via your app
  • If a truck is available, you and your kiddos/co-workers/playgroup will be enjoying sweet treats within minutes.

*Note: Per Uber, demand for ice cream trucks will be very high and availability limited, so it may take multiple tries to find an available truck. But be patient, as the Uber folks have promised to work all day to deliver as much ice cream as possible. Also, no cash required, as your ice creams will be charged directly to your Uber account. Get the full deets here.

If you do feel like venturing out, there’s also the Sprinkles 24-hour Cupcake ATM opening today next door to the Sprinkles storefront at The Plaza at Preston Center. The machine holds 350 cupcakes and is restocked every few hours to maintain freshness. Customers can use their plastic to purchase a fresh cupcake from the machine, yes 24-hours a day, for $4.

A 24-hour Sprinkles…oy vey. This is going to be bad for me friends. Just saying.
