farmersMarket_02_char11After the rain the earlier this week, there is bound to be plentiful and fresh produce this weekend. Paula Lambert of Mozzarella Company will be hanging out at one of the farms markets this weekend.  There are also a couple classes this weekend. Learn about brewing beer at WRLM or modern cooking with local ingredients at the Dallas Farmers Market.

Celebration Farmers Market:

Texas Honeybee Guild is famous around this area. They have excellent local honey products ,so come out and pick up some zip code-local honey or a little bee pollen for your allergies. Merlin’s Bakery and Catering will have all vegetarian items like cauliflower ceviche and a cilantro dressing. Josh Heddin has plenty of produce to sell like melons, squash, and peppers. Okra should be coming soon. Other vendors include Beau Tye, Stephanie’s Premium Bakery, and All Things Beaded. Meat and egg vendors won’t be available this weekend, but their products can be found in the store.

Dallas Farmers Market:

After Abraham Salum’s coastal cuisines of Mexico class last weekend, Anthony Van Camp (SĒR Steak + Spirits at the Hilton Anatole) will be teaching a modern themed class using local ingredients this weekend. The class starts at 11:30 a.m. and lasts until 1:00 p.m. Each class is $25 if purchased by Thursday or $30 at the door. It’s $110 for the series. Next weekend’s chef is Lan Nickens.

Frisco Farmers Market:

The first SauceFest competition takes place this weekend at the Frisco Farmers Market. Five competitors will enter their best sauce recipes to be judged by a distinguished panel that will name first, second, and third place winners. Random prizes will be given out to those of you who get tickets. These tickets will be sold for a limited time for veggie, chicken, or beef tasters to sample the sauces.

Mr. Dooley, who provides his organically grown heirloom tomatoes, says they are slowing down their growth because of oncoming heat, so now is the time to get them. The spotlight artisan for this weekend is Our Busy Hands – find beautiful and eclectic gifts and trinkets made by the mother-daughter duo who love to recycle artistically.

Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

White Rock Lake Farmers Market:

White Rock Local Market’s 2013 Summer Workshop Series wraps up this weekend with “In Heaven There is No Beer.” You’ll learn the basics of brewing from some of the best Texan brewers including Craig Bradley of Lakewood Brewing Company. The brewing class takes place on Saturday at the First Unitarian Church of Dallas. A few seats are available, so see if you can join in.

Now for what’s going on at the market. Lots of tomatoes here: cherry tomatoes, chocolate cherry tomatoes, currant tomatoes and Amish Paste tomatoes. Also Armenian cucumbers, carrots, and peppers from Good Earth Organic Farms. And purple hull beans, eight ball squash, watermelons, beets, and kale from Demases Farms.

Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Four Seasons Market:

Four Seasons is expecting two new vendors this weekend: Sweet T’s Smoke Company and Miss Vees. Sweet T’s has a great selection of meats like brisket, country style ribs, smoked sausage, chickens, turkey, and more. Miss Vees has fresh homemade peach cobbler.

677 W. Campbell Rd.
Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

St. Michaels Farmers Market:

Baugh Farms will have three kinds of peaches: harvester, red prince, and a few majestic from their orchards. They will also have fresh shelled purple hull peas, four kinds of heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, and zinnia bouquets. Sachse Farm and La Esperanza Farm will have other produce items like corn, cantaloupe, cucumbers, potatoes, and onions. Peachy Page will have figs and peaches, of course. Unfortunately, blackberry season is over, but Dr. Blueberry will fix you right up with plenty of blueberries. Spain’s Smokehouse has delicious barbecue sauce and seasonings and In a Pickle will have sweet and spicy pickles to balance out the tangy barbecue.

Although all that sounds great, I have some even more exciting info. No way, right? Come out to meet Paula Lambert of Mozzarella Company – she will be there with her delicious mozzarella and her cute little white poodle!

Oak Lawn United Methodist Church (OLUMC) Farmers Market

Byron Proutt of OLUMC said he purchased some of Texas Hill Country Olive Oil’s olive oil and balsamic vinegar and described it as: “Oh-em-gee-good.” They have a variety of balsamic vinegar flavors like blueberry, fig, and peach. Also, if you have any questions about olives, the representative at the vendor is full of olive knowledge. Interesting. This vendor is a new favorite at the Uptown market.

Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Collin County Farmers Market

No breakfast this weekend and the only change is a new vendor. Definitely one to check out, though: Kitchen Pride Mushrooms. They are locally grown and very fresh. I haven’t come across a vendor that is specific to mushrooms all summer so this is got to be worth investigating.

3314 Central Expy
Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Cowtown Farmers Market

It’s the third Saturday of July, which means harvest festival at the Cowtown Farmers Market. There will be cooking demos, live music, and guest vendors.
