Go to the farmers markets this weekend. Almost every market has something going on, but I did find a few options outside of the markets. Slip N’ Slide Saturday at Grand Prairie Farmers Market sounds pretty fun to me, though.
Friday
In addition to visiting your local farmers market, stop by the Pegasus Plaza Outdoor Market today between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Main Street. Right in the heart of downtown, families, neighbors, and downtown employees are welcome to mingle, enjoy live music, and shop for fresh food, handmade crafts, vintage goods, and more.
If you haven’t heard of Painting with a Twist by now, you should check out the class schedule for tonight or tomorrow. One of the themes is summertime fun and you can see what you’ll be painting on the site. Basically you get to paint and drink wine, which means your painting skills should only get better as your alcohol levels increase, right? Probably not. Try it out tonight and find out for yourself. Or the class tomorrow night.
Saturday
Some of the farmers markets have events like SauceFest, Peach Fest, GO TEXAN cooking demonstrations, and cooking classes. Find out if your local market is hosting one of those here.
The third summer class at We Over Me Farm is teaching students all about greenhouses – selection, setup, and maintenance. Classes are $45 each and make sure to call or email to reserve your spot. More details? Follow that first link.
Sunday

Marley Dablo will be an online journalism senior at the University of Oklahoma in the fall. She plans to attend culinary school upon graduation in hopes of combining her writing and culinary skills to ultimately have her own cooking show one day.
