What To Drink Now: A Toast To National Pie Day

Happy National Pie Day!  To celebrate this sweet occasion, without indulging in flaky pastry and too much whipped cream, consider shaking one of these pie inspired cocktails to toast a day all about dessert.

I love Blueberry Pie, especially in the summer when all the berries are super sweet and juicy.  Enjoy this cocktail all year instead.

1-1/2 oz Van Gogh Açai-Blueberry Vodka
1/2 oz Triple Sec
3 oz Pomegranate-Blueberry juice
Splash club soda
Directions: Pour ingredients into shaker. Shake until chilled then pour into a martini
glass. Garnish with skewered blueberries.


Strawberry and Rhubarb Pie transplants you into a garden of fresh fruit and veggies with each bite.  This simple cocktail, using Art in the Age Rhubarb Tea will do the same with each sip.

Royal Blush
2 parts RHUBARB Tea
2 parts strawberries
Dash of rose water
Club soda
Directions: Muddle strawberries, RHUBARB Tea and rose water in a tall glass. Add ice and club soda.

Wild Strawberry Seduction
2 oz. SKYY Infusions Wild Strawberry
1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
1 oz. Apple Juice
½ oz. Honey Solution
2 Medium Basil Leaves
2 Medium Strawberries
Directions: Muddle basil, strawberries and lemon juice. Add remaining ingredients. Shake and double strain into coupe glass.


Apple Pie is one of the most loved pies throughout America.  This one starts with a touch of Absinthe just to keep it interesting.

Poison Apple
1 oz LUCID®
2 oz Apple Cider
1 oz Cranberry Juice
Ginger Ale
1/2 oz Chambord
Directions: Combine LUCID, Apple Cider and Cranberry Juice in a shaker over ice and shake well.  Strain into a chilled martini glass.  Drop the Chambord to the bottom of the glass.  Skewer Granny Smith Apple wedge on a pick and lay length wise across the edge of the glass.


Chocolate Cream Pie is a favorite among many, with often made with a combination of semi-sweet and dark chocolate, because you can never have too much chocolate.  This cocktail does the same, layering chocolate flavors for chocolatey goodness!

Triple Chocolate Truffle
2 oz Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate
½ oz Chocolate Liqueur
½ oz Creme de Cacao
½ oz Cream
Directions:  Add all of the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice and shake until very cold.  Strain into a martini glass and garnish with chocolate shavings, and if you are really indulging, whipped cream.

Like a sweet and tangy slice of Lemon Ice Box Pie, Pisco Porton adds a touch of zing to a recreation of this chilly favorite with herbal and floral flavors.

1-3/4 parts Pisco Portón
3/4 part fresh lemon juice
3/4 part Darbo Elderflower Syrup
1/2 part Averna
1/2 part egg white
Angostura bitters
Directions: Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Shake vigorously without ice. After dry shake, add ice and shake all ingredients again. Shake contents over a martini glass. Garnish with 1 mint leaf and a dash of Angostura bitters.


Or take the ultra simple route with a LeSUTRA Sparkling Liqueur cocktail, vodka infused with fruit flavors and a touch of carbonation to create a sparkling wine like quality with a low alcohol (15%) vodka based spirit.  Flavors include Peach, Grape, Starawberry and Blueberry.  Simply pour over ice and enjoy.
