The holidays are sneaking up on me. Really. I haven’t even put up a Christmas tree or gone shopping for presents. This is terrible. Everyone’s tree photos and holiday blahblahblahs are making me feel awfully behind. But then I remember it’s only December 7, not December 21. I’m not behind. Everyone else is just early. I think.

Friday

Carter Blood Care will at the Rusty Taco on Greenville for a blood drive today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rusty Fenton recently struggled with internal bleeding, and he wants to give back. According to Dan the Man Koller, sign up sheets are at the counter.

Saturday

Join the chefs at Nosh Plano for their monthly cooking class at 10 a.m. The menu includes four courses with wine pairings for $75, which includes leek soup in puff pastry, seared diver scallops, and roasted quail. To reserve a spot, call 972-612-3200.

25 Dallas-area food trucks are gathering at 2505 Elm St. in Deep Ellum from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Trucks for Tots. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for a needy child and hand it over to one of the 20 United States Marines who’ll be there to take donations. There’ll be opportunities for your own kids to take photos with Santa, jump in bounce houses, and for you to do some holiday shopping with over 50 vendors there.

Uptown’s Menorah Lighting is happening between Mi Cocina and Magnolia Theater in West Village from 8 to 9 p.m. Eat latkes, listen to live music, and gaze at the giant menorah. Until your eyes hurt, at least.

Sunday

FnG Eats down in Keller Town Square just rolled out a new brunch menu. I don’t know about you, but that sweet memories carrot cake French toast sounds too good to pass up.

I love gingerbread, so I am seriously contemplating the act of signing up for one of these children’s gingerbread classes at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel. The one on Sunday starts at 1 p.m. It’s $75 per child, $95 per individual adult, and $120 per couple. The price also includes one house and holiday refreshments.

From 3 to 9 p.m., the Dallas Heritage Village’s yearly Christmas celebration will keep you busy with the celebration of tasty food. Various recipes and dishes will be found in every building. Experience holiday traditions – including cooking demonstrations and recipes – from the 1800s.
