Went to The Mercury last night for RW. Everything we had was excellent but I should mention that the chicken “oysters” appetizer was especially delicious.

I’ve been disappointed by some RW menus at other places I’ve visited in the past when all they’ve offered was a small selection from the regular menu, and sometimes with smaller portions. At The Mercury, though, everything on the menu seems new for this event, or at least, none of these items appear on the regular or seasonal menus. I go to The Mercury fairly often but make a point to visit during RW since there’s always something new and delicious to try.

We’re going to The Grape next week specifically because they had an interesting menu. I’ll report back.

Both my husband and I fail to understand why restaurants can’t come up with something at least a little original for RW. Why should we bother if they don’t? If the best you can do is a Caesar salad and soup de jour for starters, maybe you should take a pass on RW. JMHO.

Dallas Fish Market last night. Denzel took excellent care of us. The nice little touches that the restaurant added were greatly appreciated. Food was diverse and well executed. A great RW experience. We live next door and will be regulars from now on because of last night’s experience.

The Grotto – SO DISAPPOINTING!!!! I’ve been going to restaurant week for years and this was the worst ever. I went here for my birthday earlier in the year and I know they can make quality food (rack of lamb) but tonight was really sad especially this was the first time my friends were attending restaurant week. What they served was not worth $35.00.

I really wanted to like this place since I’ve moved to the Denton area but the portions and the quality of the food served were not good. I understand this is for charity and the customers are paying less than what they usually charge however, other more high end restaurants did not skimp on the quality and the portion. The soup was served in just a little bit bigger than an espresso shot glass but I’ll have to say it was good. The entree i got was their Kobe Brisket with grits, it was not awful tasting but it tasted like the brisket i get at our cafeteria at work and the portion was again small. One redeeming factor was their dessert, it was good.

The service was not that great too, we got there and they did not have enough of the restaurant week menu and we had to wait. My friend is allergic to dairy and we asked if we can substitute the soup with a house salad. Fine, they were nice enough to do that…salad came out, and on top of the salad was a LOT of grated cheese.

Dinner at Jasper’s tonight..RW menu. Jasper’s has the most varied and widest selection on their RW menu. Food was amazing. Ellen – our server was wonderful. Crabcake, hangar steak, cheesecake. Love love love

I concur about Jasper’s, except I believe the pork tenderloin was even better than hangar steak (much more tender), crab/shrimp cake was very quite tasty, but watch the spicy sauce, and the Butterfinger creme brule was very good as well as the cheesecake with cherries.

I second on the review of The Mercury. They had great choices available and everything the four of us tried was fantastic. The chicken oysters really were a standout appetizer. The entree favorites were the oxtail/short rib entree and the lamb, but the quail and trout were also very, very good. Desserts included tres leches, apple cobbler and a wonton napolean. I’d definitely recommend visiting The Mercury for RW.

Looking forward to Abacus, The French Room and Chamberlain’s over the next two weeks!

Bad experience on Thurs night at La Florintina and we won’t return. Our party of 8 was there for Restaurant Week and the waiter continuously pushed items from the regular menu. When taking our order, he completely missed a person in our group. When the food finally showed, it wasn’t correct. The steak was tough and over cooked as was the veal. I wish I had something nice to say.

Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill in Addison was phenomenal! The RW menu had many choices and the Salmon and Ribs were great. Those filet crostini appetizers OMG!!! I’ll definitely return all the way from Fort Worth!
