As you guys probably know, Torchy’s Tacos just won Best Taco Joint in our Best of Big D issue, and now it’s opening its third DFW location at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16 at 5600 SMU Blvd. Free breakfast tacos (probs the Dirty Sanchez) will be given away to the first 100 customers who’ll also be entered into a raffle. One of those lucky 100 people will win free Torchy’s Tacos for a whole year. Need I say more? I’ve got a feeling those SMU kids are going to line up like little ants along the boulevard for the 1% chance they’ll win a year’s worth of tacos.

TORCHY’S BRINGING ‘DAMN GOOD TACOS’ TO SMU

One Lucky Customer Will Win Free Tacos for a Year

DALLAS – July 26, 2012 – The popular Austin taco shop, Torchy’s Tacos, is opening its third DFW-area store on August 16, and all Mustangs and Dallasites are urged to break out of their taco rut and give their taste buds what they’re craving – ‘damn good tacos.’

The SMU store opens at 7:00 a.m. on August 16, 2012, at 5600 SMU Blvd. to bring its award-winning menu and Diablo Hot Sauce to fans. This location will be the first Torchy’s Tacos to serve liquor, and will offer specialty cocktails with infused tequilas in addition to a selection of beers.

“Here at SMU, we’re mixing things up and adding new features that aren’t in any of our other locations,” said Mike Rypka, Chef and Owner of Torchy’s Tacos. “We’ve appreciated all the support Dallas has shown us over the past two years and we plan on thanking them with our damn good food, as well as a few surprises.”

Torchy’s is showing their appreciation on opening day – the first 100 customers lined up before 7:00 a.m. will receive one free breakfast taco of their choice and they will be entered into a raffle to receive free Torchy’s Tacos for one year. Taco fans have to be lined up outside the doors prior to opening, and only the first 100 customers are eligible.

Torchy’s Tacos’ fan favorites include breakfast tacos like the Migas (scrambled eggs, crisp corn tortilla strips, green chilies, avocado, pico de gallo and shredded cheese) and The Wrangler (scrambled eggs and potatoes topped with smoked beef brisket and jack cheese, and served with Tomatillo Sauce).

Throughout the day Torchy’s also serves favorites like the Trailer Park (fried chicken, green chilies, lettuce, pico de gallo and shredded cheese, served with Poblano Sauce) and the Mr. Orange (blackened salmon topped with a grilled corn and black bean relish, queso fresco and cilantro, drizzled with Avocado Sauce), and sides and desserts like the Green Chile Queso and Little Nookies (deep-fried chocolate chip cookies with powdered sugar and cherries).

Torchy’s first Dallas location off Forest Lane opened in 2010 and its second location in Allen opened in April 2012.
