Sfuzzi to Open in Dallas Design District; Park Tavern Has a Mock Service Tonight

Little Miss Snitch has a keen eye. She caught sight of this Dallas Business Journal article which lets on that the 1400 Hi Line Tower is negotiating a lease with Sfuzzi. The tower, located in the Design District, has already signed on with Restaurant America for the gastro pub concept Central Standard Time. We’re still not sure what a gastro pub concept means… but we’ll let that one slide for now.

Restaurant America’s other gastro pub Park Tavern (at the Shops at Park Lane) is opening officially to the public on August 3rd, but just 48 minutes ago, it posted on Facebook that it’s hosting a mock service for anyone who can send a FB message:

If you would like to come by for our mock service tonight please send us a message with your full name, number of people in your party and a good contact number for a reservation. Mock service will be from 6-8pm tonight!!

Tuesday Boozeday, anyone?

  • Not a full fledged Sfuzzi going into the 1400 design district project. This will be one of our new brands “SLICE by Sfuzzi”

Park Tavern seems to have a decently sized (and fully shaded!) patio. I hope the lunch offerings are reasonable for the workers in the area. Boca Chica, a tapas and tequila place, is under construction right across the escalators & stairs, next to Ulta. Wonder when it’s going to open.

Anybody have feedback on how Park’s mock service went? I really want to like this place but, looking at the menu it seems one of those overly aggressive “do I want to be a pub or do I want to be a fancy restaurant”. That price point will NOT work in that area (ask Bailey’s). Plus it will need good Happy Hour offers or it will starve fast. I’m guessing you can prepare your October post entitled – “Park Tavern Revamps….”. Why not just be a bar that serves cold beer with good food at good prices – it’s not a hard concept! Too many places try the “let’s be a fancy place” path and fail. Dallas has too many choices, this price point will not work in that area!
