Celebration Farmers Market: Joy Farms is back this week. They’ll have some of the sweetest tomatoes around and their seedless cucumbers. I love the seedless variety for pickling because you can slice them as thin as you like (think mandolin) without worrying that you’ll end up with pickle rings instead of slices.
Hold on to your corn husks, tamale lovers. Mother Shucker’s Handmade Tamales will be there for the first time this week to see that all your lard, MSG, and gluten-free dreams come true. You won’t long for variety, either. They’ll have five different kinds of tamales and three types of salsa.

Coppell Farmers Market welcomes Paradise Specialty Cut Flowers this weekend. They’ll be selling gorgeous flower bouquets grown by Amanda Muller in Paradise, Texas. Look for all the usual locally grown produce including stone fruits and berries, which are currently in season.
The Coppell Farmers Market is the test market for my new favorite summer treat, and one of only a few places where it can be found (apart from my freezer). I met Savoy Sorbet in the cold section at Central Market on Tuesday. The assortment of flavors that incorporated herbs sparked my curiosity. I settled on Rosemary Rose, a savory marrying of fresh rosemary, lemon and wine flavors in a simplistic carton that promised that the frills were inside. In the absence of adequate cold storage necessary to keep my sorbet from becoming punch, I shared with two eager friends. Before I could explain that we had to finish it, the carton was empty. This weekend, owner Linn Madsen will be at the Coppell market testing her new spearmint flavor and the dark chocolate concoction that is so new, it has yet to be named. Swing by and find a new summer love. Cinnamon Apple Brandy, here I come.

Dallas Farmers Market: This weekend promises the usual assortment absolutely every fruit and veggie you can imagine, and a few you may not have heard of. Grapevine Farmers Market: Mary B Cakes will be out this weekend with their ever-popular homemade banana and lemon cranberry loaves. Look for blueberries, fresh herbs, and organic peaches from Ellis county, as well as fresh-hulled peas in black eyed and purple hull varieties.

White Rock Local Market: Comeback Creek Farm will be there and it’s been a tomato kind of week in Pittsburg, Texas. Look for heirloom and hybrid varieties as well as some tasty peppers. Anyone with designs on homemade salsa will do well to swing by.
It’s “everything market” time at White Rock this weekendb so vegetables are just the tip of the iceberg. The usual produce vendors will be joined by an assortment of arts and crafts vendors. There will be a special appearance by The Urban Cottage in Lucy, the airstream showcasing vintage furniture made from repurposed objects, as well as clothing and collectibles.
This weekend’s market will also feature the Box of Awesome drawing. Members who join and donate $25 or more will be entered to win $500 worth of merchandise from the best White Rock Local Market vendors.

Four Seasons Market will host Berry Best Farm with their organic blueberries this weekend. Gilbert-Pruett Farm will have a variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables. If you haven’t tried Cita’s Salsa yet, swing by and pick up a jar. They have three varieties: red, green, and mango habanero. The Red Rage was my favorite, though, I did not find it to be rage-inducing in the least bit. On the contrary, I was quite content with the uniformly smooth, preservative-free salsa. All salsas are made by hand weekly.

McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square: If all this talk of healthy food has you itching for a little indulgence, head out to Chestnut Square for the 2012 Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Festival featuring the 17th Annual Killis Melton Ice Cream Crank Off. Tasting tickets are limited and may be purchased in advance for $12, or $15 at the door. A ticket buys you 12 tastings of the entries. Henry’s Homemade Ice Cream will have nine flavors for sale by the scoop. If you’re feeling competitive, show up at 9:00 a.m. and enter the competition. They’ll provide the ice, salt and electricity. You need only provide two gallons of your flavor. Other available eats include Local Yokel’s sausage on a stick and meatball sliders, and Whole Pizza’s mini pizzas made with fresh ingredients from the farmers market. There will be free entertainment, activities for the kids, and of course, all the usual vendors of fruits, veggies and local artisan foods.

McKinney Farmers Market at Adriatica: Three Red Hens Farm will have it all. A member of the Texas Organic Farmers Association, this 28 acre farm in Hunt County, Texas sells fruits, veggies, and herbs as well as grass fed beef and free range eggs. Other food vendors include Chef Milton’s Chili Nuts and AP Apiaries with honey from Collin County.

Rockwall Farmers Market: Berry lovers will have options in Rockwall this weekend. Choose from Berry Best Farms or C&R Berry Farms stock of in-season blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. The Rockwall Farmers Market is very excited to announce a new seafood vendor this year. Magnolia Seafood Company will have fresh seafood from the Gulf of Mexico. They don’t just sell it, they catch it themselves. If you’re on the market for land-based protein, Churchill Farms will have beef, pork, chicken and eggs from Farmersville, Texas.
