Wednesday night we had dinner at Manuel’s Creative Cuisine in the Centrum Building. It is a lovely family owned restaurant that is providing an upscale latin dining experience. (The chef/owner and his young family moved to Dallas from Los Cabos where they have their first restaurant.) They have neat touches like wet rags to clean your hands before dinner, an amuse buche, and coconut foam served before the dessert to cleanse the palate.
The “caesar salad” served in a parmesean crisp bowl and included roasted corn and grape tomatoes along with the traditional ingredients was lovely. For our entree we split the avocado risotto that was topped with shredded beef. The brownie bites for dessert will definitely have my attention when we go back again though…

Went to The Mercury last night and had the most amazing Dover Sole. It was cooked sous vide then broiled with a crunchy breadcrumb and parmesan (I think) crust and doused with brown butter. Good gawd it was delish. Great texture on the fish paired well with the crunch of the crust. I seriously can’t stop thinking about it today, though the fois gras with mushrooms and this insanely good port reduction sauce was also amazing. The Mercury is still a great restaurant. Every single thing everyone ordered (four people) was great – Mushroom Risotto, Veal Milanese, Tuna steak and my Dover Sole. Oh, and sous vide braised short ribs are unlike other short ribs I’ve had and they were so good. I highly recommend,

Oddfellows for brunch last Saturday – loved the new brunch menu. Can’t believe I ordered deviled eggs…but they were a nice change. Presentation wasn’t pretty – but they were tasty!

Zenna in Plano for Saturday evening Happy Hour. Consistently a good bet.

Tonight we tried Albilad Mediterranean in Richardson. Some of the best shawerma – both chicken & beef I have had in DFW.
