    Jon Stevens dinner at Veritas- every course was perfect.
    Sissy’s with the mom- Service excellent, Purple Hull Pea cakes and deviled eggs a must. Nice twist on the Mac ‘ Cheese too.
    Dinner at Rise No. 1… just love that place. Hard to order b/c I want one of every soufflé. The banana foster soufflé rocked it! mmmmmm……

    Lunch today at Chicken Scratch. The fried half chicken lived up to the hype. The batter had a very complex flavor and I’ve always been a fan of pan fried (as opposed to deep fried) chicken. I was impressed that the white meat was just as tasty and moist as the dark meat. The vinegar-honey sauce on the side was also delicious.

    Had a biscuit on the side and while I concur that it was more crumbly than I normally prefer, it was still moist and had great flavor. I’m not one to ever turn down a biscuit, and it pairs extremely well with the vinegar-honey sauce, as well.

    Also, the manager was extremely helpful, very attentive, and really appeared to care about great service. We sat outside next to the stage and I can imagine this place will be a blast at night once the Foundry is up and running at full capacity.

    Toulouse needs a redo. Same menu for too long, tables too close together and terrible service from the kitchen and front of house. And the food? Lobster Bisque tasted old, burned and the cream was separated. Lobster salad has tasteless, oily dressing and a small amount of chewy lobster. The mussels were good but I will not return until Alberto Lombardi announces an upgrade. Great location, attractive restaurant but that’s it. Note to Alberto: Mr. Bigshot, who do you think you are?

    Cane Rosso at Times Ten – great salad, pizza, wine, and service.

    Mesa, dinner – two appetizers to taste the incredible Mole. Entree special Lobster Enchiladas and Estofado de pollo (Chicken stewed with olives, capers, fresh herbs, cinnamon and clove)- leg/thigh portion (it’s all they use), absolutely delicious- it took a moment to remember that this is what chicken, with a little chicken fat, tastes like (after too many years of boneless, skinless, tasteless chicken breasts). Charming restaurant, very hospitable service.

    The original, El Banqueta on Peak Street. The best damn tacos and tortas in Dallas! Especially their incredible Suadero. Either as a taco or a torta.

    Fuzzy’s on Sunday for breakfast, huge mistake! The tacos and burritos were filled with styrofoam brown scrambled eggs, tidbits of meat and shredded cheese that didn’t even attempt to melt. Just terrible. Last night attempted dinner at Fishbone. Ordered a dozen raw oysters, they were metallic and mildly dangerous. Upon informing the owner that they were not good (no, we were not asking for them to be taken off our bill) we received a tongue lashing and were simply scared to order anything else. We paid up and bolted to Rusty Taco. While not the best tacos and margaritas in town it was a decent meal that would not lead us to the ER in the following hours. Fuzzy’s and Fishbone have been 86’d from our dining options.

    Pho is for Lovers on Greenville is a must go on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays! They started doing “weekend specials” which introduce new and authentic Vietnamese dishes. My favorite and the most amazing thing I’ve tasted is the Bun Bo Hue! It’s described as their spicy version of pho..with hints of lemongrass. I love love it!

    Tried Sissy’s, although the sides were delish! The wait between everything was far too long and the fried chicken overly salty.

    Also tried Coastal Cuisine in Snider Plaza, very interesting menu! Try the Crab BLT!
