New Food Trucks Ready to Roll in Dallas

By George Lewis |

Several new food trucks are taking to the streets this month. One starts today.  Let’s roll with them:

Eden Cafe Gone Mobile: Karen Kahn just can’t get enough people into her little 38-seat bistro on Lover’s Lane, so she is going to take it to the people.  With City Street Grille’s expertise and truck, Chef Kahn will bring a limited menu of quiches, upscale burgers, salads, and desserts to the road.  She’s starting today at “Food Truckin’ Tuesdays,” a month-long event held each Tuesday from 11AM-2PM at 8000 Jetstar Dr. in Irving. The event supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The bricks ‘n’ mortar Eden Cafe is still open for it’s regular times. Khan will run the truck on days the place is closed.  If the experiment works out, Eden Cafe Gone Mobile will acquire their own food truck.

Little Vessel Grill comes from owner/operator Mike Brown.  Mike’s perspective is Asian-American fusion, targeting a $7 price point, with plans to be out for lunch and dinner time frames.  Little Vessel Grill’s menu is more upscale than most of the other food trucks, with items such as mesquite-smoked pulled pork tacos, sweet yam wraps, tomato soup shooters, cheesy risotto and chicken thai meat on a skewer.  Little Vessell Grill will be at the same Food Truckin’ Tuesdays event.

Cajun Tailgators combines Cajun flavors with the fun of LSU tailgating.  Gumbo, shrimp and roast beef po-boys, red beans and rice, etoufee, fried boudin balls, and beignets.  Cajun Tailgators has their Dallas County permit and plans to start rolling in the next couple of weeks.

Tin Star hits the road with Tin Star Taco Taxi.

Ssahm Korean BBQ has added another truck.  In addition to their shiny black truck, they’ve added Ssahm Red.

On the downside, Mint Leaf Frozen Yogurt has called it quits and is looking for a buyer.  And Yum Yum Food Truck which announced a hiatus has now officially called it quits.

Go. Eat. Report.
