For Sale (in the auction): One Pyles, One Davaillon, One Tesar, One Sakurai, and One Gottlich. A lucky bidder has these guys cooking for her.

Sunday night, Restaurant Stephan Pyles was packed for Share Our Strength’s  23rd Annual Taste of The Nation. The event raises money to end child hunger. Locally, funds  go to the center for Public Policy Priorities, the North Texas Food Bank, and The Wilkinson Center. Stephan Pyles has been involved for 22 of the 23 years and has taken  a leadership role. Sunday he was honored with an award for the major part he has played in raising over $2 million dollars for Taste of The Nation.

Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation Dallas chairs included Stephan Pyles (Honorary Chef), Terri Provencal (Event Chair), and Susie Priore (Auction Chair). In addition, two pages of the program listed local sponsors whose contributions amount to the major part of the funds raised.

The 120 attendees were seated at tables of 10-14 people and each table was assigned a personal chef. Participating restaurants and chefs included: Bijoux [Chef Scott Gottlich]; Bolsa [Chef Graham Dodds]; Charlie Palmer at the Joule [Chef Scott Romano]; Central 214 [Chef Blythe Beck]; Dragonfly [Chef Dan Landsberg]; Fearing’s [Chef Eric Dryer]; Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck [Chef Patton Robertson]; The Commissary featuring The Table [Chef John Tesar]; Mansion on Turtle Creek [Chef Bruno Davaillon]; Nick & Sam’s [Samir Dhurandhar]; Nobu [Chef Matt Raso]; Second  Floor [Chef J. Chastain]; Smoke [Chef Tim Byres]; Stephan Pyles and Samar [Chef Stephan Pyles];  Tei-An [Teiichi Sakurai].

We were seated at Smoke’s table and I think the pictures below speak for themselves in describing the meal.

Smoked Pheasant & Rio Star Grapefruit Salad (sprouts, radicchio & almonds)
Roasted Turbot & Spring Peas (smoked ham & corn broth with summer savory)
BBQ Cabrito & Fresh Masa (goat's milk cejeta & green apple salsa verde)
