Upcoming Opportunities to Taste Throughout Dallas

Every week there are dozens of opportunities to taste great wine and spirits throughout the city, but these were a few that stood out in the upcoming weeks.

Monday from 7P-9:30P the Glenfiddich “Cask Of Dreams” nationwide tour will stop by Stanley Korshak with a special tasting and opportunity to win great dream vacations and prizes.  Glenfiddich hopes to inspire the single malt fan to follow their dreams and pursue their passions, and what better way than with a tasty dram of Scotch.

The Cask of Dreams campaign exists to encourage, inspire and assist people in realizing those goals with a combination of prizes, incentives and philanthropic pursuits.

Thursday, May 12, Dallasites Brenda and Clay Cockerell will be at Sigel’s on Greenville from 5P-7P for a tasting of their incredible Napa Valley Coquerel Family Estates wine including new varietal Petite Sirah.  I just had a note from Brenda that she has been in Napa all week bottling their next release, which I hear includes yet another new varietal…hopefully more on that soon.  Such an exciting time for these Texas natives and their elegant wine. RSVP here.

May 19th Chopped host, and all around Foodie and Wine lover, Ted Allen will be at Taste of Addison where he will guide a few special guests through a preview of the event on the Robert Mondavi Discover Wine set.  You have to enter to win though and the contest ends tomorrow so text “TedAllen” to 47464* for your chance to win.

Or stop by Victor Tango’s for the winning cocktail of Bartender/Mixologist Abe Bedell.  Abe competed in a regional competition for the Ultimate MixOff Challenge and is now off to New York to compete in the national competition on May 14th held by DonQ Rum.  Abe won the regional competition in the “Fruit Forward Long Drink with Garnish Focus” category with his Cambodian Cooler.  Recipe below, but is best enjoyed when mixed by our winning creator.

“Cambodian Cooler”
2 oz. DonQ rum
1 oz. homemade whipped cream
1 oz. fresh pineapple juice
1 oz. Coco Lopez
1 stalk muddled thai basil
1/2 oz. simple syrup
1/2 oz. ginger puree
Mix ingredients. Pour cocktail over crushed ice into tiki glass. Garnish with basil stalk.
