    Dinner at Salum – My first time, definitely not my last time. The food was flavorful and unique enough to please me but not so “out there” that the others couldn’t find something they liked. Chef Salum greeted us at the door and worked the room throughout the night. He obviously has many fans.

    Lunch at Seasons 52 – Just ok. Place was so packed at lunch there was an hour and a half wait for a table. I wonder if that will change over time because honestly, the food is hit or miss. Service is really great though and has been every time I’ve been.

    Take-out Dinner from Tin Star – Can’t go wrong with the #9 and the Queso.

    Sushi at Oishii. My family and I go there about every other week. The kids love the beef satay and rice. My husband and I eat sushi which is always very fresh and flavorful. It is the best and most consistant sushi in town at a affordable price. We especially like Wednesday night when they offer wines at half price.

    Had one of the worst dinners of my entire life this past week at Loft 610. A horrid awful experience. After hearing about how “chef” Tre Wilcox will be on the new season of Top Chef I was really interested to try this place. Over dressed salads, over cooked scallops, and a dessert selection that reminded me more of a high school bake sale than fine dining. Service, the few times it was given was short and made us feel more like a bother than a customer. Without Rathbun holding his hand along the way it just seems that Wilcox falls short on several fronts and delivers an over all disappointing meal. The only memorable things are the reasons not to return.

    We went to Oishi, too! Great spider roll made with soft-shell crab. They’re very consistent, the atmosphere is neighborly, and the service is friendly.

    @dtowneater- this is one of my top five favorite restaurants. I have eaten there several times and never had a negative experince. I am not negating your experience but I’m very surprised to hear that you were disappointed. Bummer.

    Went to Nova and shared some small plates. Loved the smoked salmon potato skins with creme fraiche! And Kelly’s hummus is still the best in town!

    I also concur on Oishii…very good sushi.

    Tonight is Peking Duck at First Chinese BBQ. Mouth already watering!

    Visited Samar on a perfectly beautiful evening. We sat outside and had an incredible time drinking great wine (at reasonable prices) and eating perfectly prepared food. I was reminded of my love for this restaurant. I couldn’t have had a better experience and cant wait to go back!

    Went to Taverna after avoiding the place for months because of a bad experience. It was fantastic, just like the old days. Had the Sea Bass, focaccia, BF had the Eggplant. Wine recommendations were spot-on. Beautiful night. I’ll have to put Taverna back in my rotation.

    Taverna is one of main stays for regular visits. Great food, comfortable atmosphere and the patio is ideal. Like that it sits on a less traveled road where you feel more relaxed without heavy traffic. If you have not had their weekend brunch try it out, it gets busy so arrive early or later. Great Mimosas and cheap!

    Boys and Girls Club of Greater Fort Worth and The Arc of Greater Tarrant County

    Dallas, TX (October 21, 2010)—FREEBIRDS World Burrito, known for its extraordinary range of create-your-own gourmet burritos, tacos, burrito bowls, salads and more, will open its 10th restaurant in Dallas-Ft. Worth at Pipeline Village on Wednesday November 10th, 2010. Local resident and restaurant veteran Steve Perkins will manage the new FREEBIRDS restaurant and employ approximately 50 team members from the local community.

    FREEBIRDS and its charitable arm, FREEBIRDS World Works, have a mission to help inspire staff and guests to give back to the community. In the days leading up to the opening, FREEBIRDS World Works will conduct the following pre-opening events that are open to the public:

    – Monday, November 8th, 2010, FREEBIRDS will partner with Boys and Girls Club of Greater Fort Worth from 11 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and again at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The first 500 guests during both time slots will enjoy complimentary food and drinks in exchange for a $5 donation to Boys and Girls Club of Greater Fort Worth.

    – Tuesday, November 9th 2010, FREEBIRDS will partner with The Arc of Greater Tarrant County from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. The first 250 people to make a $5 donation will receive a complimentary lunch. The effort will help provide a better quality of life for those with developmental disabilities.

    FREEBIRDS offers guests “way more choices” and the freedom to fully customize their own burritos, salads, nachos, burrito bowls, tacos and quesadillas any way they like. With a reputation for highly personalized, one-to-one service, crew members help guests select from an extraordinary range of more than 40 freshly prepared ingredients including fire-grilled chicken, slow-roasted pork carnitas and grass fed beef topped with hand-cut peppers and vegetables plus house made salsas and guacamole.     Here were our choices this week; highly recommend a neighborhood gem, Citrus Bistro at Royal and Preston. This is very small, comfy, friendly service spot that is BYOB. Currently, they are also offering Mon-Thur a chef’s four course dinner for $39, the night we were there it included lobster.
    We had the dover sole, and escolar; with excellent sides, soup, salads, and desserts.
    Our other stop this week was Roma’s at Walnut Hill and Greenville, if you like Italian food like homemade try this. Menu choices include, pastas, pizza. We had a couple of the chicken dishes, about averge, but very good prices. Nice patio seating. One note though, we were directed to their website from D Magazine restaurant guide, and they no longer have the happy hour specials that are posted on their website, needs to be updated.

    Ate at Cafe Expresso on Luther Lane. Great thin crust pizza, pasta bolognese was fab, and the specials were really good. Great prices.

    Pho at Oishii for lunch on Tuesday and dinner from Il Cane Rosso (at Green Spot) last night. Two regular standbys that never, ever disappoint.

    This has been a week marked by multiple visits to the same restaurants. I went to La Me for banh mi twice and fish shack twice.

    Dinner at TABC Monday night – and was surprised by how tasty the Thai Red Curry Chicken was (never would expect it there). A late meal at Urban Taco Tuesday night where I thoroughly enjoyed the veggie tacos in lettuce wraps – also a pleasant surprise! The Common Table on Wednesday which was fantastic. The calamari was delicious as was the beer cheese soup. Chicken fajitas with the option of flour, wheat or red corn tortillas at Sol’s in Deep Ellum last night; where I was informed the menu had changed (for the better). Tonight – hot dogs and beer while I watch the Rangers win! All in all a great week!

    Lunch yesterday at Twisted Root on SMU Blvd. It was OK–nothing to go crazy about. Gazeebo Burger has a *much* better turkey burger.

    Oishii, as mentioned before, just doesn’t get any better for innovative and fresh sushi and great rolls. Was in for dinner last night and it is just so fresh and wonderful. Could probably go every night.

    BTW, Freebirds sucks. The last time I went and will ever go there was mold all over my tortilla. Plainly obvious to me, but they obviously didn’t care.

    I second (or third) Citrus Bistro. Atmosphere is a little lacking, but food was as good as any I’ve had in Dallas recently.
