Stone Savage talks with a customer at Stoney’s in East Dallas
Stoney’s move, discussed here, is complete, and they are open in their new location in East Dallas. In fact, they are conveniently within a stone’s throw of BYOB restaurant Bangkok Inn, and have a rack of Thai-friendly wines near the door for diners in need of a tipple. At this weekend’s grand opening, owners Stone and Diana Savage insured me parking will be easier than it was than in the old Greenville Avenue location. Also a big plus is they have facilities to store their customers favorite wines in climate-controlled conditions.

Also new is a tasting room, just off the main store, with a counter and comfortable ambience. This is available for rent by private parties and is likely to prove popular in the holiday season.
I checked the shelves and most wines are $15 or less with a few high-enders for special occasions. The selection is interesting. I picked up a Torrontes for an outrageously inexpensive $6.99, and a white wine from Greece ($5.99) that I have never drunk, made from a grape I have never had before and that I cannot pronounce. It will probably be best paired with food that I do not know the ingredients of. Should be interesting!
